jellywong, that’s good to hear that your son has improved so much!
I spoke to the teacher and she was very helpful. She says that she will try to pay more attention to my gal in that she may need to explain things more in detail to her. She did say that my gal is very weak and so find it difficult to catch up.
May I know if your son does his weekly revision on what was being taught in class? I think the weekly ‘mo die’ is supposed to help kids in comp writing right? My gal usually do not revise her work and only at the very last minute learn and do her homework. She is not a very motivated child. She does not a very good attitude towards her studies. I think ATTITUDE plus HARDWORK should pay off somehow. Sadly, these qualities cannot be taught…
I will still keep her in the centre and hopefully she can improve somehow, even though a little. Fingers crossed. -
Hi jeanieg, thanks for your sharing!
I think there is a myth that many of our parents may fall in which kids could change their attitude automatically as long as they join in a good school/program. However, it is not neccessarily turned into reality as expected. I ever struggled with my elder boy when he was in his lower primary until one day I was enlighted by a teacher that it is actually a triple game needs the efforts from our kids, school and ourselves. As kids are kids after all with less control and persistence, we should not merely relay on their own. Our involvements are even more critical to their success when they are young. I fully supported that the school requires parents to help remind and help for "Ting Xie" at home regularly. Can image what progress can achieve as they only back to see the tutor once a week for just two hours. Its just my two cents’ view. -
Hi parents, Anybody have children studying in hua cheng. I need a referral . Can pm me.

Good morning jeanieg,
Yes, my son does his revision weekly with me. Whereas for his compo, I require him to re-write after teacher corrected it. As the centre will give him a model essay on his next lesson, I'll go through with him even though the teacher goes through with them in class. I think that helps. My son used to have attitude especially Chinese classes. I could understand as our kids are not expose to much chinese cultures and environment. Is not easy to master a language in this way. Encouraging teachers & parents play a very important roles. 妈妈们,我们一起加油吧!华程老师经常这么对我说。 :rahrah: -

Thanks for sharing. My gal is quite lazy. After her class, the file is put aside till the day before the lesson and then I will have to push her to do the homework. Even that, she is very hesitant. I think to do extra work like recopying the comp, will be very hard! As my own Chinese is not good, I find it very hard to help her. Hope that in time, her Chinese will improve. -
Haha, same here when it started. I struggled with my son for nearly 5 weeks to do revision and doing compo corrections. I don’t give up easily. So in the end mommy wins. Hahaha!

Has anyone tried their Writing class?
Would appreciate any feedback, thanks! :? -

My boy is p4. Not very good in his Chinese, my neighbour ever told me that Hua Cheng is good, as her dd got a* last year for her PSLE. So I sent ah boy there for writing class since last June. Really hardworking for 1 yr, now very happy to see he able to get 12/15 in his SA1 Compo. The teacher is very strict and encouragable, and often ask him do corrections and re-copy the corrected compo. At first ah boy always made noise and cried, and reluctantly to follow. Now he is ok already after long time struggling, especially when saw his improvement. But he is just on the track, still has long way.
BTW their material seems also help, there is always a sample essay given after one lesson, explanation on the structure and “好词好句”for spelling. But we did a lot to help him work at home. Now he feels more confident on writing.
For the referral, I am not sure whether they have or not at BT, maybe different for branches. Hope it helps. -
Can anyone share how is the June holiday program of Hua Cheng for P3/P4 level? Price, things to do and how long? Keen to sign up for dd.
Thanks in Advance
