He looking for potential DILS lah

Maybe other parents are looking for potential DILs, from our school.

Since our school is an \"All Girls\" school -
Perhaps our school can start consider organize some new activities, to invite boys from \"All Boys\" schools, let them socialize & mix around from young.
Call this \"Social Friendship Games day\".

There are many reasons why a lot of us parents prefer to send our girls to all girls school. Socialising with boys is definitely not one of those reasons.

Hi, does anyone know whether rgps intends to set up after school student care within the school? Which studentcare centres (near the school) do rgps girls typically go to?

Within our school compound premises -

            No student care centre.

            Not now, nor in future.
Our school no plan to set up any student care centre.
neither does RGPS intend to plan one for future
(after shift back 2016, single session)
Most of our girls stay at home, come to school by school bus.
Our school bus transport fleet exist all over the island, pick up students from remote places too, to come to school.

            P1 + P2 study afternoon session (12.30 pm to 6.30 pm)
If your dd come in next year (2015 P1) -
She'll study afternoon session, at Mount Sinai road (Holland).
            Next year (2015) -
Is the last year we will occupy Mount Sinai temporary holding site.
            Come 2016 -
We'll all return Hillcrest road premises, permanently.

            Opposite Hillcrest road -
There is one student care centre called \"Out of the Box\", located around Coronation plaza (Bukit Timah).
A few RGPS students go there.
Every morning, these few girls reach there, very early in the morning.
They reach this student centre daily (Monday - Friday), around 7 am.
Around 12 noon, can arrange for mini school bus transport to fetch them from student centre to Mount Sinai, for afternoon P1/P2 session.

You may visit the centre, if free.
Once you step into this cosy student care centre, you can see students from other schools too, from :-
(RGPS, NYPS, MGS, SCGS, ACS boys)

            Last year (2013) :-
            Under Phase 2B -
from the interview(s) conducted, our school picked 20 Parent Volunteer(s), for this round.

But, two girls entered by Phase 1 (sibling) -
because their older sister(s) managed to Transfer in successfully first, before July P1 registration commenced.
So, their younger sibling(s) registered under Phase 1.
(they don't need Phase 2B PV anymore)

in the end, 18 Parent Volunteer(s) enrolled.
No balloting needed : all PVs including staying more than 2 km got in, smiling happily.
Another 8 registered, by Grassroot Activity leaders GRC route.
Total : 26 came in, under Phase 2B.

Under Phase 2C (Registration is thrown open to Public) -
            RGPS
            - Took in SC girls, up to within 2 km.
once exceed 2 km : no chance, to enter

            refer
            http://www.rafflesgirlspri.moe.edu.sg/e ... statistics

For NYPS (co-Ed : include Boys)
            - balloting was conducted for SC children, residing within 1 km of the school.

very fierce & intense competition in NYPS, at Phase 2C -
because many parents within 1 km : very keen to enrol their (sons + dd) into Nanyang !

Children who failed to ballot into either RGPS / NYPS, under Phase 2C -
Turned to Bukit Timah primary, under Phase 2c Supplementary.

            Under Phase 2C Supp -
only Bukit Timah primary (under Bukit Timah zone) still have vacancies left.

              True !

a lot of parents send their dd here -
because they prefer an \"All Girls\" primary school environment.

              Even go Secondary school -
a number of parents here also prefer to choose an \"All Girls\" Secondary school.
              example :
              They choose to go -
RGS, NYGH, MGS, SCGS, Cedar, Crescent Girls, Tanjong Katong Girls, Paya Lebar Methodist Girls, St Margaret Girls, CHIJ family-related Convent Girls Secondary schools.

Thanks for sharing the above information! What are the chances of success during phase 2c SC within 1km for rgps so far? I know last year all within 1km were successful, but previous years required balloting right?

Need to look at number of places left at end of Phase 2B, for this year.

must see how many (PV + GRC) enrol this year, under Phase 2B.

in the past (up to 2012), we used to take in many PV.
But last year (2013), we started to reduce the intake of PV, by half.
GRC we can't control, but PV we can control the number we want.
Thus resulted in more vacancies available, for Phase 2C.
if you compare # registered in 2012 vs 2013 under Phase 2B, you can see the difference :-
                  http://www.rafflesgirlspri.moe.edu.sg/e ... statistics

Since you stay less than 1 km from both (RGPS + NYPS) -
balloting for Nanyang is far more risky, at Phase 2C.

pick the school that is of lesser risk.
Secure that school that is bound to accept your dd, within 1 km.

Besides Out of the Box student care, are there any other student care centres (in bt timah area) that parents put their rgps girls in? I saw from Out of Box website, the place looks cosy and they charge :moneyflies: premium rates... just looking at available alternatives...

                        Thank u :thankyou:
