Nowadays most Pri schools take in mild special needs pupils. You may like to call up the school of your preferred choice (SBW Pri Sch) to discuss further.

I think you are really lucky because my friend's kid really waited more than 1 year to get into ARC! Just started recently and the boy settled down fast and is learning things also as the eipic system in place in ARC is very very structured and her son took well to it.

I am starting my son in a new per-school that is a good 20mins drive away (assuming no traffic jam!). Initially wasn't even in my search radar as I felt traveling time was long but as their program suited my son's OT needs so decided to try and got accepted. Good luck to both our sons in their new environment!

My son is really lucky then. We got the acceptance within the same month of assessment. Hope your son is doing well in his new school.

They didn't tell me to sit in leh. I was there for the first week but eventually got my helper to wait in school instead. After knowing that we can sit in, I told my helper to be thick skin n ask to sit in when possible. From what I understand, parents n helpers can only take turn to go up the classroom.

About your \"B lister\" theory, hmmm... I think a little unfair la. They really do have limited teachers n it is quite impossible to accept all asd kids. My child is not hf, very very few words n unable to take instructions well. but they accepted him. During the assessment, I felt that they were assessing me as well (Maybe I was wrong).

I know govt is putting in more effort to help the less fortunate group. I do wish they can do more though. The society is made up of all the individual? To educate the society then everyone must play a part, isn't it? Anyway, this topic is too cheem for me. I only know I will do my best in whatever way to help my son. And along the way, if anyone needs any help, I will try
my best to help. I guess U can say that this is my small little way to contribute to the society

I have the same experience. Felt they were assessing me, not my son. Happens all the time when I enrol him in a new ST, OT or EIPIC. So tired of telling the same story over and over again and filling endless forms. Anyone else feels the same or is it just me?

It gets worse when the assessors are all female. So there will be like 4 women seated around me on children's chairs....as in seated very near me....asking me questions or showing me the forms. I can smell their perfume and they can smell my breath kind of close. Really uncomfortable.

In his EIPIC's Meet the Parents, it is his ST (female), OT (female), social worker (female), 2 teachers (female) and a psychologist (female) who will sit up close with me and ask me questions. To me it is very intimidating. Especially when they start gigglng over something i said or did. Or maybe I am the autistic one.....sigh....just not used to such close proximity with young women if you know what I am saying....

My son is starting his new school next Monday. I am allowed to sit in for 3 days and I am having the jitters thinking about it. Very bad mood swing this week and super emotional and weepy. Haizz…, really need to keep my emotion in check. Sometimes think I should go and see a psychologist.
