Ang Pow Issues...

ha ha, just two, so we lugi $100 since we also have two

.... Maybe you should start to mirror our system. Flat rate for all nieces and nephews regardless how many kids each family has. The current rate is $20 and it has been like this for the past 9 years.
This is our situation today :
1st sil - 3rd sil - 2 kids each
4th sil - 1 child only
We have 3.
Hubby was like should we give the youngest sil more????
I was like... then like that, we must adjust for all the others to be equal to the amount we receive too :? Eg. for 1st sil to 3rd sil, iso getting $20, they should now get $30 each. Very complicated. What happens if along the way, she give birth to more kids, so we must reduce proportionately???? Funny rite???? Anyway... just ask her to give birth to more if she think she lugi. It's not as though we want more kids because we want to get more angpow.... To me, angpow is just a \"blessing\" to the younger ones.
This is how they split the bills for special occasion meals too. Eg. XXX amount over 5 kids. So when the youngest only has 3 (hubby + herself), she still need to pay a equal share. -

:!: First time heard of giving cheques in angpows. :faint: So when funeral also give cheques for pek kin lah. I mean, unless the amount is really big, why cheques? Some people very 'X'(cannot find word to discribe, do help).
They will show up for wedding dinners and present you with a cheque, nice and big number but got problem 1, so there is no way you can bank it.
This guy friend did it to a few of us before we found out :x -

The idea of giving cheques is to purposely make a mistake when writing the cheques, so that the cheques cannot be deposited. Then the person giving the cheque got a free meal out of it, pretending that it's an honest mistake.

But there are also some genuine cases. When I got married 11 years ago. A korean colleague working in Spore. Think she was the IT Director. She gave me a cheque and even asked me how to spell my name correctly on the cheque.

I think is from the show \"δΌιΉ ηΈηΈ\".
Bingo!!! -
Actually, saw on some of those wedding cards. "Cash gift is preferred". Maybe they can also include. "No presents and no cheques please". Or Cheque should be made payable to "XXX".
Haha maybe can add interbank transfer nowadays too. Just drop me a email to XXX after youβve transferred the amount so that I can verify. -
MMM:
What to do. Everytime when it comes to DH's family, he would always say that we don't have to be calculative. I agree that we do not have to be calculative once or twice, but after so many years, the receiving end ought to be zhidong (automatic) right, yet nothing happened.Busymom:

For my family in the past, all my older siblings are already married (can't remember if got kid already or not), when it comes to the special occasion meals, I also paid equal share even though there was just myself, and that was fine with me. Nowadays, things had become more complicated... bills somehow will get split 4:4:2. Agree that one need not be too calculative. This is how they split the bills for special occasion meals too. Eg. For DH, it is a \"non issue\". They all expect him to pay. :x :stupid: -
for our wedding dinner, I also received a cheque in one of the ang pow. It was from my elder brother and it was a BIG one.

Cheques are perfectly fine. That has always been my preferred mode.
