      ngl2010:
I read in another thread that some schools require their students to sit for Chinese in Sec 3 before they are allowed to sit for O level Higher Chinese in Sec 4. How about RI? Are the students required to sit for Chinese in sec 3?

Btw, the list of tests for Term 2 ends in week 6. Does it mean MYCT start in week 7?
Students taking hcl do not need to take the normal chinese o level paper in sec 3. Not too sure when is the myct.. shld be the same time as the other sec schools.

Proudly brought to you by the Raffles Arts Institute (RAI), ARTSeason 2014 celebrates Raffles Institution as a vibrant community for the arts through a series of performances and exhibitions by the aesthetic CCAs of Raffles Institution, Year 1-6.

One of RAI's core aims is to allow our students to share their works across the artistic genres with the community. The ARTSeason 2014 will include events across the spectrum from the grandeur of orchestral sound to intimate jazz performances, modern and street dances, as well as art exhibitions. It will be a forum where the seeds of artistic personality are planted, nurtured and harvested, developing a future where the arts become an essential part of their learning experience, and their life.

ARTSeason opens with The Poetry of Movement, presented by four Raffles dance groups on 25 April 2014.

                        Hi parents,

May I know if anyone here knows what 'distinction' in A Level score means? Does it refer to scoring an As? or A or B? Thanks.

                        :congrats:

Rafflesians have done very well, once again !! :rahrah:

                        AsiaOne
                        Monday, Mar 03, 2014

SINGAPORE - Four Raffles Institution (RI) students offered 13 units of study and scored distinctions in all 9 subjects for the GCE 'A' Level Examinations, said the school in a press statement on Monday.

The results were released today at 2pm.

A total of 1,239 RI students sat for the examination in 2013. The statement said that at least 80 students scored eight distinctions and at least 277 students scored seven distinctions.

The school also reported that one in two students who took four H2 subjects scored distinctions in all four subjects. Two out of three students scored three H2 distinctions in their content-based subjects. 45 per cent of RI students scored distinctions in General Paper.

339 students achieved a perfect score of 90 for the University Admissions Score (UAS). UAS is used for admission by four autonomous universities in Singapore. In addition, 170 students achieved distinctions in all subjects offered, including H3 subjects.

The school also did well in subjects like Biology, Chemistry and Economics. Eight in 10 students scored distinctions for Biology; seven in 10 student scored distinctions in History, Knowledge & Inquiry, Literature in English, Mathematics and Physics; and six in 10 students scored distinctions in Geography.

The 2013 cohort is the fifth batch of students to complete the six-year Raffles Programme, the through-train programme offered by RI and Raffles Girls' School. RI also admits students from other schools at Year 5 (JC 1) via the Direct School Admission and Joint Admissions Exercise.
