      Hi,

I have a 2nd property which is currently rent out. I intend to use that property address for P1 registration (<1km). I intend to take the property back and move in before P1. However the tenancy only ends in August. How do I declare such a scenario during P1 registration?

      Thanks in advance.

        Hi,

Need to seek advice for phase 2B registration.

We are considering shifting to the east side but over the east side there is only one rather good school that we are looking at. The rest are less than ideal. If we stay put at west side, there are two above average schools that we can consider (good chances to get in even though we are 1-2km from one of them). We need to register next year. Thus far we have not confirmed whether to shift. We are uncertain if we can clock the necessary hours as we’ve heard stories where parents were accepted as PV by the school in the West but didn’t have chances to clock the sufficient hours.

We were wondering, can father and mother have different addresses during phase 2B registration? Then if the odds are against one school on the 1st day of phase 2B, we’ll register for the other school with better chances. Is this acceptable?

        Thanks!

          hi Sunshine8

it is kind of late to be thinking of volunteering if your child is registering in 2015, as most schools that are still accepting PV would probably have completed or close to completing the PV selection process.

Under normal circumstances, if both parents have different addresses on their NRIC, the father’s address will be used. Please do note that under the National Registration Act, an Identity Card (IC) holder is required to report his/her change of residential address within 28 days.

Guys, this is the consequences for giving false address inorder to get his child to register in sought after primary school.

Man charged with providing false address to get daughter into primary school
                  PUBLISHED ON MAY 27, 2014
                  BY ELENA CHONG

A man was charged in court on Tuesday with providing false information to a school principal, so as to secure a place for his daughter in a primary school in District 10.

Henry Wong Yi Hao, 35, also faces a second charge of giving false information to a police officer at Kampong Java Neighbourhood Police Centre, saying that he lived at a residential address which he knew to be false, causing the cop to change his address on his identity card on July 20 last year.

He is accused of giving false information to the school principal about him living at that address, knowing that it would cause the public servant to enrol his daughter into Phase 2C of the Primary 1 registration exercise.

The school is not named to protect the identity of the girl.

                    Hi all,

Just to confirm, it’s ok for us to rent one whole apartment and reside there for the primary sch years, instead of buying right? Issues only arise when people do not stay there, am I right?

                    Thanks!

Paiseh paiseh, another question. Does any one know how long it takes to rent a private property (excluding selection process) and how long does it take to update the change in the IC?

                      Thanks!

                        (1) Renting a private property - as long as it takes you and the landlord to sign the tenancy agreement. Usually depends on the negotiation process, but once it is signed, the tenancy starts from the date stated on the agreement as the starting date of the tenancy.

                        (2) Update change in IC - as long as it takes you to go down to the police station to update your address. This depends on when you are free to do so, because the police officer will stick the new address on your IC on the spot. 😉
