      POA Teacher:
      mamalim-on:

Hi did you withhold a month of her salary or made her pay for air-ticket first? My agent advised me to do either 1. My Myanmar helper requested to go back for home leave 4 months earlier..

Your agent may advise you to do so.
Some employers do that when the maid goes on home leave.
But employers are not allowed to do so.
If anyone should get into trouble for that, it would be you.

Alright, noted that. Thanks POA Teacher.

Do all maids contract come with savings, some agents put a savings for the employer to safe keep and to be returned when maid leaves or to be used for any emergency.

I have been reading the posts here... Sad to say, employers are now left at the mercy of maids and employment agencies.

Yes, to ensure that the bad bugs do not get passed to other employers, the right thing to do is to send the maid back home for those with bad attitude and lousy track records. However, for those with outstanding loan, sending then home would means that they employers need to bear the full loan amount themselves. Maybe some need policy/insurance coverage where employers can claim for such damages when it's the maid who wants to go home? 🕺

Yes, if there are such insurance I would gladly sign up for it! It's time the G does something to protect us employers when the maids want to go home on their own accord and when they simply want a transfer to another employer who reportedly offered her a higher pay! And pls shut down those pesky agents who target maids who are already working here by tempting them with higher pay and shorter working hours! Unscrupulous! And to ang MOHs out there, pls don't spoil market and offer salary of $700-$750! Any maid upon hearing it will of course jump ship at the expense of the employer, leaving them high and dry...

Agencies are happy to encourage maids to transfer because they make 2 mth ($1000) from the maid on top of other fees they charged to new employers. So when you maid uses her handphone to call her agent, the agent will say, 'Not happy? transfer lar'. Agents are no longer on employers' side.

Actually yes majority agencies will comply with the maid but not all, last time when my maid wanted to transfer, my agent straightaway tell her " you want me to blacklist you " if employer good you must work," but that time that girl was a fresh maid… so my agent normally tries to scare the maid so that the maid doesn’t transfer.

Why agency’s fee are so varied? Some agencies are charging agent fee $388 for Indon maid while other are $1088 for Indon. Salary/experience/loan payment the similar.

When choosing a maid agency ,don’t just go for the name or discriminate the agency just because its a new one. Check on MOM Website that agency have any demerit points or not, then check the transfer rate, if less than 15 or 20% should be good.

When i was taking my maid i had a good talk about this same question as yours to my agent, why so expensive… my agent did share with me, some times, the agency here just bring in anyone from the village side, no training, not even 1% training so this kind of maids all cheap cheap lah… those girls come here got background training more expensive loh…

some agency don’t even allow the employers to Skype or talk to maid, just choose from album ok confirm liao.

Can I check if there is any regulation relating to minimum notice period to maid?

                        Thanks in advance.
