SAHP or working is better?

The activity my kids enjoy the most is just playing together (that's when they're not fighting :D). They don't even want to watch TV. Like right now, I'm doing my own stuff and they're playing play dough peacefully. Sometimes I feel I should push them more academically but I guess forcing them too much has only the opposite effect.

The problem with many parents nowadays, is they care too much. Children have no time, space and freedom to grow on their own. Just like plants, watering too much and dumping too much fertilizer, will cause them to die. Sometimes, doing less is indeed doing more

Fighting is good. It's an essential step in learning anger and conflict management.
Children should only have their fights stopped if it has gotten dangerous. Preventing children from fighting/arguing/having conflicts, means that they will not have learnt how to handle this important part of human relationship when they grow up.
Just keep the knives away, everything will be fine LOL -

Wow that’s a very positive and interesting view about kids fighting. I’ll try to keep that in mind and look to find learning opportunities instead .

yoou are right. I'm not patient too, and is embarassed to said that I lose temper quite frequent lately. and worse, show it in front of kids...I feel lousy and bad as a mum...I think I'm a lousy mum... :oops:

Your older boy reminds me of my sister's son. In K2 now, hyperactive and mischievous, been giving my sis a hard time since babyhood (kept everyone up with colicky screaming and crying for 6 months!) Likes to be stubborn and wilful, can snatch cane from my sis and try to throw it away! :!:
But he is also very smart, like your boy, I think.
And talk about losing temper, my sis is shouting at him almost daily!
Can be very :x now, but hopefully they will mature with age.
So try to keep cool.

[/quote]Then kids who have to learn this way should not do it at the expense of kids who do not have to. I hope when parents teach children things, do it in context. I see alot of misbehaviour in children everywhere and I cannot help but feel it has alot to do with the parenting style.
My child went for a class today and first thing she stepped in, a boy said \"Kill her!\", only because she was new?? :roll: :roll:
I wonder what kind of parenting this boy had been receiving or none.
I have many cases to quote on children's act of violence and verbal abuses and I find it is the very fact that parents never nip it in the bud but instead offered 歪道理 or wrong application of a theory. -

I can beat that record. I missed his CA2. After taking care of my father in hospital, I let him play psp from afternoon until night to fill up his time in hospital. Father discharged, I packed my bag, flew off for business meeting. Back on Monday, call up my his friend mother, uhhh ooohhhh, CA2 over. I thought it was supposed to be the week I'm back. :oops: -
Back to smurf question, I wish I have a good job that allow me to balance between family and work. I still need the money to support my old age parents but I definitely need to spend quality time with my kids.
If can afford, of course I opt to be SAHP. -

There is something obviously wrong with the dynamics of the society. Every mother should be able to stay home if they wanted to, and work if they wanted to. Though I am a happy FTWM, I am not supportive of the current structure of mother working and leaving children to maids. By this, I don’t mean these mothers are bad, in fact, they are good. But must it be that way? Why is the cost of living such that mothers have to work?
I would imagine the best situation is, mothers focus on bringing up great kids, fathers work is enough to support the family. Children grow up well and great and twice the productivity of what it is today (with innovations and corporate entrepreneurship). Mothers can go back to work when children are big, or can have part-time work when the kids are in school.
That way, we will bring up great children with higher productivity (instead of those who are infused with maids’ strange habits), the family dynamics are intact, (and therefore more babies will be produced), more balanced society definitely?
Why are we always chasing our own tails? Why is the number of working women always a measure of a country’s advancement? I think this is a crazy way of measuring success! Women should work because they are happy to do that, not because they have to. To enable that, the whole mind set has to change, and it has to come from the top, I feel.
Perhaps the old ways of our ancient fathers has a lot of wisdom afterall. Are we running in circles by becoming more ‘developed’?
