KSP:
that's why some schools do away with O level (IP) to reduce stress....... :rahrah:
But majority of kids, at least 90% of cohort, still takes the conventional route...zbear:
i cant wait for SA1 to be over so me and DS can take a break before the big exam.

PSLE, O Level n A Level years are the most stressful years of any Singapore student.
Just have to ren until its over.

Burnt out as in over-stretched and lose interest in PSLE entirely.
IP may reduce stress at O levels…but IP is only for kids who are highly motivated. They take their next major exams at 18. -
Reading the posts about tired kids. DS1 had loads of hw over the weekend... very stressed..today not feeling too well...and he has both MT and Eng Oral exam tomorrow. I feel so sorry for him.
I feel at a loss as to how to ease his load and help him
Plus like many of you here, I got one more taking exams - DS2 is in P4 and has subject based banding this year... -

I dare not think of daughter's subject-banding either...but hope you feel better after a good night rest today. :hugs:Reading the posts about tired kids. I also have a P4 but not so worry for this boy. He is more steady than the kor kor.

Look at his homework prioritise it for him. If he can't finish the last few pieces, write a note to his teacher to explain that he didn't have time. If you think it's possible, you could say he will catch up in the weekend, but if the homework keeps coming, that may not be possible. If he gets homework from tutors as well, you may want to see if there is duplication and reduce that too. When planning revision, take into account what he is doing for school and don't add more of the same. I never allow my kids to lose too much sleep over homework, and will rather explain to the teacher than make them stay up late or lose too much leisure time. And if they are unwell, they rest rather than work. They can't work efficiently if they are sick, and it's a waste of time and probably retards recovery. My daughter is in sec 3 and still sleeps before 10.30pm. When she was in P6, she hardly ever worked after dinner as her school didn't seem to give a lot of homework.Reading the posts about tired kids. I agree with you. This is what is happening to my kids. -
slmkhoo is right.
parents have to step in if the homework is excessive.
if the kids are unwell, what they need is AMPLE REST…work done when kids are unwell is counter-productive. psle is the year schools push lots of past year papers to the kids…never-ending paper after paper. -

Hugs to you. Most of us have already gone through this stage. Down the road, when your DS1 takes A levels, your DS2 will be taking O levels. That is another major stress. There is no end to stress so long as your kids are still schooling.
In the past, I thought that my stress level will be reduced once my kids go to Sec School but I am wrong.
Next year, my kids will be taking O n A levels at the same time. Already, the stress is building up this year. -
totally agree…as long as kids are still in school, that’s STRESS.
