i cant wait for SA1 to be over so me and DS can take a break before the big exam. 😞

PSLE, O Level n A Level years are the most stressful years of any Singapore student.

Just have to ren until its over.

      😄

that's why some schools do away with O level (IP) to reduce stress....... :rahrah:
we have to monitor the children workload and make sure that they don't burn out before psle. ds being an active and playful boy is showing signs of frustration when given too much hw by the school. Luckily, his teachers have stopped the hw last fri to allow them to revise for SA1.

Yup...have to monitor the kids closely for fatigue.
Those in p6, make sure they don't get burnt out YET...still have June, July and August. Schools will push hard from July. Drink lots of water, reduce oily/deep fried food before PSLE oral. All the best.

Err... don't think u meant burnt out rite? Cos we wouldn't want burnt out at any point in time. You mean peaking?
just a general question for everyone here with PSLE kids... how long do u think a 12 year old kid can stay at the peak? ie. at the top form and best shape for the PSLE examination. 2-3weeks or 1-2months?

why don't they remove PSLE, stream the kids according to learning abilities every 2 years in the same Primary and Secondary... I think many European countries are doing that...

Burnt out as in over-stretched and lose interest in PSLE entirely.

IP may reduce stress at O levels…but IP is only for kids who are highly motivated. They take their next major exams at 18.

Reading the posts about tired kids. DS1 had loads of hw over the weekend... very stressed..today not feeling too well...and he has both MT and Eng Oral exam tomorrow. I feel so sorry for him.

I feel at a loss as to how to ease his load and help him 🤷

Plus like many of you here, I got one more taking exams - DS2 is in P4 and has subject based banding this year...

Look at his homework prioritise it for him. If he can't finish the last few pieces, write a note to his teacher to explain that he didn't have time. If you think it's possible, you could say he will catch up in the weekend, but if the homework keeps coming, that may not be possible. If he gets homework from tutors as well, you may want to see if there is duplication and reduce that too. When planning revision, take into account what he is doing for school and don't add more of the same. I never allow my kids to lose too much sleep over homework, and will rather explain to the teacher than make them stay up late or lose too much leisure time. And if they are unwell, they rest rather than work. They can't work efficiently if they are sick, and it's a waste of time and probably retards recovery. My daughter is in sec 3 and still sleeps before 10.30pm. When she was in P6, she hardly ever worked after dinner as her school didn't seem to give a lot of homework.

I agree with you. This is what is happening to my kids.
