Government says weekly day rest is mandatory but never say must be weekends rite? I have an idea for employers who needs to give maids off days. If you are not working, give them off days on weekdays n on different days too. That way they cant gather together and compare and turn bad since they have different off days.

        Hi there,

I am considering hiring Indonesia/fillipina maid who has worked in Taiwan or HK for over 5yrs to look after my special need old folks. Would anyone be able to share your past experience with these experienced helpers!? Would they be more demanding and harder to manage?
Hi, you better becareful, as I know working in HK will have about SGD 650 with 4 days off and working in taiwan will have about the same salary with 4 days off too. So when they want to lower their salary and work in singapore, something is wrong. Please do a double check on them

If these maids do not have any prior work experience in. Sg is there any ways to do a background check on them?

Correction: I dont think Taiwan offer off days, just higher salary. But their loan is also longer - 1 year.

How come no one protects us here in SIN? We need laws to protect us from these unscrupulous maids and agents!

Sorry, got to post this again even though I already posted abt my ex-maid before… Just discovered today that she started stealing my things much earlier than I caught her, like during her 1st or 2nd year! ( I caught her officially during the 3rd year) and I think she is so smart that she knows I will check her luggage when she goes home so she asks her frd to brg it home for her! So that’s why both times she went home I checked her bag also didn’t find anything. Today, saw her wearing my AX t-shirt happily posting her selfies on her FB!

So must definitely BEWARE of her…she is an incredible liar and thief…

Just emailed MOM to blacklist her but they haven’t get back to me.

                Sorry, for the repeated post.

I wrote to MOM in Feb, using the feedback tab on their website; asking them how I can formally write to black list my ex maid, MOM did not reply at all.

Thanks for alerting us but you should have taken care of your own belongings.. And not depend on checking luggage to see if she has taken anything..

I have a helper too.. I keep a close tab on all items.. Jewellery.. Clothes.. Money.. Etc.. It is our own responsibility to take care of our belongings...

It's my fault for trusting her too much. Thought she would be different from my other maids....turns out, she is nothing but a thief! Gave her freedom and out of respect, didn't check her things more regularly or start questioning her when my things go missing....choose to believe her when she said she didn't take it. Learnt my lesson the hard way... :frustrated:

                        Hi,

just receive email from MOM saying that they cannot ban or blacklist my ex-maid just based on feedback alone. However, they did mention I can become a referee for her so whenever any prospective employer or agent want to apply for her, MOM will give them my contact no. and they can choose to call me.

think that is the only thing i can do now because i can't go to the police already since she is already back home. but i'm glad at least i tried to warn others and did something to prevent them from falling into the same trap as I did! :xedfingers:
