2014 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

slmkhoo is right.
parents have to step in if the homework is excessive.
if the kids are unwell, what they need is AMPLE REST…work done when kids are unwell is counter-productive. psle is the year schools push lots of past year papers to the kids…never-ending paper after paper. -

Plus like many of you here, I got one more taking exams - DS2 is in P4 and has subject based banding this year...
Hugs to you. Most of us have already gone through this stage. Down the road, when your DS1 takes A levels, your DS2 will be taking O levels. That is another major stress. There is no end to stress so long as your kids are still schooling.
In the past, I thought that my stress level will be reduced once my kids go to Sec School but I am wrong.
Next year, my kids will be taking O n A levels at the same time. Already, the stress is building up this year. -
totally agree…as long as kids are still in school, that’s STRESS.

I don't think the stress ends in school. Still worry about whether they can get a job, buy a house...endless! :nailbite:

养儿一百岁,长忧九十九... seems there will be worries about our kids as long as we are alive (just different types).... my sister-in-law has a daughter who is graduating from university and going to start work this Sep, the daughter is now involved in a long-distance relationship with a boy whom she only met for 3 months - she said she want to fly there and look for the boy.... -
Thanks for all the advice everyone. Guess what... I went home after work yesterday to find DS1 sick!
I have indeed moderated his hw...never stressed him ... He sleeps 9.30 pm every day no matter what. Still I think he worries himself silly! Finds the new topics so challenging and is just sick of the daily grind. I think for him it is more about managing emotions and stress. Frankly speaking... I also have difficulty dealing with such a constantly angsty child. -

If he can sleep so early, I guess it's something individual, not the amount of homework, that is the issue. As you say, you need to help him deal with his own emotions. Thanks for all the advice everyone. Guess what... I went home after work yesterday to find DS1 sick!

"Ma, my stress level getting higher day by day…"
My ds told me yesterday… -
I have engaged private tutors instead of going to enrichment classes this year, to save travelling time.
Hopefully, ds and I have more rest time. However, some private tutors are unreliable, always cancel tuition last min. Luckily, not all are like this.
