Plus like many of you here, I got one more taking exams - DS2 is in P4 and has subject based banding this year...

Hugs to you. Most of us have already gone through this stage. Down the road, when your DS1 takes A levels, your DS2 will be taking O levels. That is another major stress. There is no end to stress so long as your kids are still schooling.

In the past, I thought that my stress level will be reduced once my kids go to Sec School but I am wrong.

Next year, my kids will be taking O n A levels at the same time. Already, the stress is building up this year.

I don't think the stress ends in school. Still worry about whether they can get a job, buy a house...endless! :nailbite: 😓

养儿一百岁,长忧九十九... seems there will be worries about our kids as long as we are alive (just different types).... my sister-in-law has a daughter who is graduating from university and going to start work this Sep, the daughter is now involved in a long-distance relationship with a boy whom she only met for 3 months - she said she want to fly there and look for the boy....

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Guess what... I went home after work yesterday to find DS1 sick!

I have indeed moderated his hw...never stressed him ... He sleeps 9.30 pm every day no matter what. Still I think he worries himself silly! Finds the new topics so challenging and is just sick of the daily grind. I think for him it is more about managing emotions and stress. Frankly speaking... I also have difficulty dealing with such a constantly angsty child.

If he can sleep so early, I guess it's something individual, not the amount of homework, that is the issue. As you say, you need to help him deal with his own emotions.

I have engaged private tutors instead of going to enrichment classes this year, to save travelling time.

Hopefully, ds and I have more rest time. However, some private tutors are unreliable, always cancel tuition last min. Luckily, not all are like this.

DS will worry more if I tell him not to finish his homework than if he loses a few hours of sleep. So, I let him sleep late at night on occassions where he has bad time management and catch up with his sleep during weekend. I found this is a better way for DS because he feels stressed if he doesn't hand in school homework.
