My DS is also in P5. I got this P5 English Based on 2015 PSLE Format from Popular. It actually contains specimen papers, including oral. All based on new format. Very popular - had to reserve and go down to Bras Basah today to pick up. The Popular nearest to my place had the book but all reserved. Published by 3 Gifted Minds LLP.

Yesterday, I went to Ang Mo kio centra popular and I saw the \"3Gifted mind LLP\" for P4 & P5. I realised that for paper 1 both level are different. It is good to that now I know the specimen of the paper.

Anyone has any idea the new format of new PSLE 2015 composition format? Is it consist of the guided composition (which is a single picture remain the same) and continuous composition (which is 3 different pictures). Students need to choose one to write.

Write for fun! The aim when beginning is to get the child used to putting thoughts on paper. You can start by getting him to write a journal entry when something more interesting happens, or make up his own stories. If he likes drawing, he can also illustrate them. He can make little booklets to share with friends, cousins, grandparents etc.

Initially, don't worry about spelling or format or style too much, and don't make him do corrections! Those can come after he gets used to writing with fluency. You can point out errors and suggest more interesting vocab, but let it be his own work. Search online for writing prompts and ideas as well - there is quite a lot you can find. The main thing which I cannot stress strongly enough is NOT to demand or expect school-standard or school-format writing as it will kill creativity. School 'creative writing' is not very creative at all. You can focus on school requirements when doing schoolwork, but not at other times.
