Hello parents, Im a student from PL and to answer your question about the pace of lessons, yes it is quite fast, however, If your daughter pays close attention in class, takes notes and revises at home, she would have no problems in school. If your daughter still has questions regarding school work, there is consultation sessions on Thursdays from 2.10 to 3.10. Your daughter will be able to meet specific subject teachers at specific locations and get help from her teachers. There are 8 classes in each level , 6 Express, 1 NA and 1 NTand there is a average number of 40 students for each class . According to my friend in Band CCA, no musical background is required, however the chance of getting into band may increase if your child has her talent identified in the talent identification . As a student, yes. I would say the seniors are nice and friendly, and no, there are no bullies, however there are some rude students which don’t really mean any harm. And yes the teachers are caring. We have pastoral care every Monday morning where we get to meet and talk to our form and co-form teacher , cell- group (prayer group) every Thursday before consultation where the teacher pray for us (not compulsory) and LiVE lessons every Friday where we spend time with our form and co-form teacher.

My DD is in Sec 4 this year. I would like to express my gratitude to this marvelous school for nurturing my DD to be a responsible and driven young lady.

I particularly likes its Christian environment and culture. My DD has been keeping the little notes with biblical verses given by her class and cca teachers which were to encourage the girls to lean upon God during the trying exam periods. :imanangel:

I like the idea of getting the girls to play and work during the school holidays as their common tests are set after the holidays. This provides ample time for them to prepare for the tests and fully 'utilise' the holidays.

I appreciate the tremendous effort put in by the Chinese Language teachers for conducting the very intensive chinese lessons immediately after the 1st prelim (8am to 2/3pm daily and is still ongoing). This is to prepare the girls for this coming June O levels CL exam. I heard that many of the teachers have to sacrifice sleep so as to mark the many assessments and compos done by the pupils in school (and at home). :salute:

Thank you very much to the junior(s) who left titbits and encouragement notes in the hall for all the S4 yesterday.

It's also very thoughtful of the principal to cancel all overseas trips so far to ensure the safety of the girls, in view of recent mishaps and diseases outbreak.

In conclusion, PLMGS is a wonderful school. :rahrah:

My DD has been receiving brochures from all the Polytechnics in SG by mails now and then. I presume the names and addresses are given either by PL or MOE.
Perhaps there are other reasons like time constraint for such events to be held in sch instead of the sch's preference for JC.

All them sec 4 will receive them through post. What I heard was this school doesn't encourage the student to go Poly so they don't allow them to promote in school

I hold a different view because PL only allows the higher ability pupils to take pure Sciences and it makes up only 50% of the express stream. In view of this, they will not expect all to make it to JC. And if you look at the sch's website history, they have been highlighting Poly achievers alumni. I thought they advocate more on Poly.

Whatever is the school's plan, if the motive is to get the teachers and students to work hard and aim high, I am strongly for it. The final decision of which route to choose still lies in the hand of the student after the O lvls results are released.
