        DQ:
Can anyone confirm the scope of P3 CA1 CL paper: Chapters 1-5 or Chapters 1-6?

The topics to be tested as shown in the letter is Chapters 1-5. However, dd said they are already into Chapter 6 now...

If the scope is indeed Chapters 1-5, shouldn't the teacher focus on revising these chapters instead of moving on? :?
My impression is up to chapter 5 as per the CA guideline paper. Maybe the teacher feel that CA is just a test of what they've learnt??? so it's fine to move on to other chapters.

My kid are P3 and P2. I have another K1.

Yah… I observed that my P3 girl stay back in school for 3-4 days a week. CA is round the corner as well and there are still homework to be done.

The chinese compreh is really very stressful. My son's chinese tutor whose daughter is teaching at MBS also complained about their own chinese HOD. The answers must show exactly those key words according to their standard answer sheet. If any deviations but with same meaning are also not acceptable. 😢

 :!: Yes, it is very difficult for the child to come up with things that are exactly the same. Personally, if they can understand the passage and answer in the same context that is not bad.

                    Dear all

I am very new to this Forum but am very happy to have found this thread. My boys are due for Primary 1 next year and i believe registeration is this year. My husband is a old boy of Maha Bodhi which therefore means my boys will be applying for MB too. No doubt MB is a superb school and it is a priviledge to be able to get in, however, because we are Christians, we are not sure if it is the right choice. May i ask if there are any Christian parents out there whose Kids are in MB and are there any issues I need to know?

                    Pls adv

                    Thank you

                      Hi,

We are free thinkers but during my era when I was studying in MBS, I had alot of classmates who were either catholics or christians. They are still non-buddhist today and I also observed that alot of ex-mates have since convert.

For me, I went to a catholic school after MBS and felt that it offer different kind of exposure.

Given that Singapore is a country where we are multiracial and religion as well, I feel that it does not really matter if you are christian and you are sending your child to a buddhist school. Probably it is a good exposure for him to see/ understand other religion and at the same time learn about respect for other religion. Eg. he can choose not to participate in prayer but he need to learn to respect by keeping silent.

In addition, I don't think MBS is so religion focus that we parents here only talk about religion... Think we've not done that. The key focus is still on the academic performance

Just thinking about my kids and myself, we did not become staunch buddhists after attending MBS. It's just the same as me going to a convent and doing bible knowledge. Yes, they learn how to bath the buddha. Not sure if they find it fun or religious :? They do buddhist studies, learn to bow to buddha, other than that I really wonder what they did. I do observed that sometimes they have to bow to the buddha,etc... so maybe this is something you need to educate your child if you feel strongly about it?

                        Dear MMM

Thank you so much for the reply. U made a good point abt exposing kids to other religions, i think it is healthy too. I guess it is then up to me to guide and instill our family beliefs.

By any chance, do you know what is the time table for P1 students? You mentioned there is prayer time plus sme other activities. Wld like to better prepare myself.

My boys are due for registration this year

                        Thks again.
