It was very fruitful especially the meeting with HCL teacher πŸ˜„ We were told that DS is cmi in HCL. So, either drop to CL or will be placed in the worst HCL class in Year 3. In Primary School every year we have been told that his CL is cmi so it is a constant reminder to us πŸ˜„ . We were told that RI will put their best teachers in Year 3 and 4 so we are hopeful that DS's HCL will be improved. In the meantime, we just have to make sure DS puts more effort in Chinese although we don't know what he needs to study for MYCT tomorrow :?

      Did you go to PTM?

ngl, the HCL teacher actually told you your son's HCL cmi? I thought your son's HCL was about B/C? Not like he's failing. Anyway, being in the worst class in HCL is not a bad thing. The teachers will work hard to make sure he doesn't fail.

DH said the teacher hinted a few times that DS will fail if we don't make sure his exposure to Chinese language is increased.

I have attended only ONE PTM so far..

I did not attend any PTM in Year-1 coz DS said only those with pink letters needed to attend..

Last year (Year-2), I made appointment to meet DS' HCL teacher (though DS once again said I did not need to meet his teachers), but I managed to speak to his Form teacher & Math teacher as well..

DS' CL has always been average (2.8), but his teacher never once said he CMI. In fact, his Year-2 HCL teacher told me DS could do better if he put in more effort. True enough, DS' HCL improved to 3.2 in his Year-2 EOY Exam, and 3.6 in the recent Year-3 Term-1 CT..

I have asked DS many times, if he wanted CL tuition, but he said NO. Same for most of his friends, I heard, who are all average in CL only. These boys are indeed stubborn, but I respect their determination NOT to be \"slaves\" to tuition.. :salute:

Oh.. I did not attend PTM this time coz I had to attend a concert at DS2's school that evening. DS1 has also done well (overall 3.85), so I decided to give PTM a miss this time, coz preferred not to rush here & there.. πŸ˜„

We are thankful for that. Better scare us now than in Year 4 :scared:

I don't know anybody that got pink letters. :? What is the criteria for pink letters?

I am all for no tuition too but I told DS that one needs to know when to seek help before it is too late. So, most likely we will push him for HCL tuition. πŸ˜‰

Your DS1 has done really well. :salute:

                  Thanks jtoh..

Not sure how GPA is calculated for Year-3 (Is it Best 8, including EL & CL ?). DS says if he had gotten 1 more mark in EL, his overall GPA would be 3.9..

Anyway, that was for Term-1 only (not full-scale exam). Shall see how he performs in MYCT..

DS is not checking out of boarding this week, to revise for MYCT at home. He says he can study better at boarding, coz less distraction there..

How's your DD ? Is there any MY exam for the JC-1s ?

firefly, just 1 more mark to 3.9. Impressive! No mid-years for the Year 5s. But there are CTs coming up after the June holidays.

Proudly brought to you by the Raffles Arts Institute (RAI), ARTSeason 2014 celebrates Raffles Institution as a vibrant community for the arts through a series of performances and exhibitions by the aesthetic CCAs of Raffles Institution, Year 1-6.

One of RAI's core aims is to allow our students to share their works across the artistic genres with the community. The ARTSeason 2014 will include events across the spectrum from the grandeur of orchestral sound to intimate jazz performances, modern and street dances, as well as art exhibitions. It will be a forum where the seeds of artistic personality are planted, nurtured and harvested, developing a future where the arts become an essential part of their learning experience, and their life.

ARTSeason opens with The Poetry of Movement, presented by four Raffles dance groups on 25 April 2014.
