Is Hong Wen or Bendeemer primary better? Why?

I can't answer your question about which is better.

I can only share why I chose Hong Wen.

I PVed at Hong Wen, so I got a feel of the teachers, environment and atmosphere and my gut feels good about all.

My two kids are in HW now and I still like all their teachers 😄

I like the emphasis on Chi culture, tradition and values.

I like that a child's character comes first before academics. Though does not mean that they let academics slide.

I have no experience whatsoever with Bendeemer Primary so I cannot comment.

does it means they never bring back their test papers and we never know how well/how badly they did in those mini tests, tests etc?

i am asking coz, i realised i have to go through the returned files (esp. maths file), noticed that trc marked wrongly sometimes -_-'.
From dd1's experience, the tr will go through the paper with the students and if any particular question is marked wrongly, the student will approach the tr to get the marks or deduct marks depending on the situation.

            Dear Parents,

My son lost his exam schedule, I managed to find out the schedule, but not the topics of each subjects which are listed behind the schedule. I have asked my son to borrow fr his classmates but none of them willing to lend it to him 😞 Asked him to get it fr teacher, but he only manage to get the exam time-table and not the topics. Any parents here know the P4 exam topics and share with me? Thanks very much.

                Hi hquek,

Thanks very much for your reply. I have asked my son to get the exam time-table from the classmates or teacher when i found out that he lost it. He asked the teacher, and teacher posted it on the website, but without the topics. I asked him to get the topics from the teacher, but he brought back a hardcopy of the time-table without the topics again.

I feel that he should take up the responsiblity and he shld be the one corresponding with the teacher, and not me, the parent. I feel tt i shld not bother the teacher unless it is serious matter, that’s why i try my luck in the forum, emailing the teacher will be the last resort.

For Chinese and Maths, it is quite straightforward, he just need to study everything in semester 1. It is Science which i m not sure what are the topics that he need to cover, as P3/4 topics will be tested. That’s the reason why i keep asking him to get the topics.

I try to take the back seat and let my son be the driver in his own study. But
he has much to improve in his attitude towards his work. I find that constant reminder is not working. Sometimes i even find myself nag too much.
Are there effective ways to make our kids realise that it is their responsibilities to take charge of their own lives?

                  Young,

If only need the science topics, maybe ask your son what was taught so far for semester 1? Let him see the list of P3/P4 topics and ask him to point out which are the ones taught.

Responsibilities for their own lives…maybe start from something small first?

Grades have no effect on my kids, so I let them take responsibilities for stuff like household chores.

Sometimes, it just takes longer for them to realise…

Sometimes it’s just a mistake or carelessness and not becos not responsible.

                      Hi,

You may wish to post in the maths thread. Our school thread is pretty quiet. If you post it at the maths thread, you may get quicker response to your qn.

Sorry I can't help. I'm following my dd1's pace and I have not learn this yet heehee.

                      http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum ... m.php?f=27

In each level, there's a maths thread, post at the primary level that this qn belongs to and I'm sure you will get an answer soon.

                      cheers
