Those who came in during yr 5, many or maybe all left

Within a few months. They could not follow the syllabus. There are none in yr6 now.
Where do they leave for? JC and Poly?

I'm not sure where they had gone to, but shouldn't it be back to mainstream JC?

Maybe it depends on when these students transfer out. Guess if early part of the year (1st 3 months? of JC1), can still catch up? If any later, probably have to enter JC in the new school year.

Is the academic part that is hard to catch up or the arts side?

It should be the arts modules which are presenting the challenges. After all, JAE students enter the IB programmes at ACSI and SJI at Year 5 and do alright.

For Visual Arts, does it helps if the student has a very strong foundation in drawing and painting if he/she enters the school at Y5?

Strong foundation? At Yr5 it shouldn't be just strong foundation, it should be his/her major.
What about theory? What are her work credentials? Gallery show cases? Any awards? Good chance if all these are present. But please, don't let me scare you, pls go ahead and try. You'll never know, you might be the lucky one.

I would urge all who wants to come to SOTA, join them immediately after PSLE, that's the best time. Latest by Sec 3.

Yes, agree that it's best to join after PSLE but not my child to decide. The parents want the child to have O levels first.
