Hi,
Anyone know of any good apps to help young kids learn their notes? -
jen:
On Ipad there is the app Better Ears, which is pretty good, but presentation may be a bit complex for young kids.Hi,
Anyone know of any good apps to help young kids learn their notes?
I would suggest buying a cheap Nintendo DS and sourcing for a few music training software made for it. e.g. Music (aka Montessori Music), Rhythm N Notes, Easy Piano. -
Dear all,
I am organizing a private masterclass for my students conducted by Miss Toh Chee Hung, one of the adjudicators for the upcoming SMTA Performance Festival. The masterclass will feature pieces ranging from grade 5 to Diploma level, including some current ABRSM exam pieces. The venue is not confirmed but we will conduct the class on Friday June 13th 6-9 PM.
The masterclass is open for observation FOC and if you would like to attend and watch do drop me a PM.

I’m using Piano Maestro iPad app…it’s quite good in my opinion, helps them in their rhythm and sight reading skills…but it’s free only up till Chapter 6 (covering notes from bass clef G to treble clef E only).

Today, I finished assembling the video for the pieces from Piano Time Pieces Book 1. The book is cheap, easily available, and contains attractive pieces for beginners and pre-grade 1. A lot of my students enjoy the pieces from this book, so I make it a priority to record this and a few more Piano Time Pieces because decent professional recordings of them do not exist.
To go to individual piece you will need to go the Youtube page and click on the time stamp.

My pleasure. Just trying to fix the holes in learning resources that I use in my lessons. -
My 5-yr-old doesn’t want to learn piano anymore. She complains that the tutor scolds her every lesson. In the beginning when she was scolded, she would be very upset. Now she can’t be bothered to be upset. She simply refuses to go for the lessons. If anyone has a patient and responsible piano tutor in the north, who preferably travels to her pupil’s place, please pm me.
