Ellysia:
Hi Ellysia,HI
I have a few queries as son is enrolling in next year under alumni.
1) Is there any in-house student care in ACS and what is the contact?
2) Anyone has placed their kids at Kiddiewikie? My son is in Kiddiewikie (ENV building branch) and teacher recommend to their other outlet (near carnhill cc) with student care. I am still considering whether to put at in-law house or student care.
3) Does the school bus drive to anywhere? I heard from my hubby that ACSP school bus seems to be able to go anywhere in the island which i am quite skeptical. Is there a school bus to Toa Payoh Lor 7?
4) When is the orientation usually?
Hope my reply is not too late. Just registered as a KSP.
1) In-house student care provider is called MCYC (62597579 / 91324676)
3) There's more than 1 school bus to/from ACS(P), each covering a different part of Singapore. Quite sure there's 1 that goes to Toa Payoh.
4) Last year's P1 orientation was on 5 Nov. -

Hi. Can I find out how often the p3 -p6 have extra classes after school? Is it compulsory? For everyone or just selected? Also for p1-2, there's usually some bridging class for those with weaker foundation. Does anyone know when it's held? Do you find the teachers teach enough for the kids to do their work or is enrichment/tuition necessary?
There are remedial classes and there are supplementary classes. Remedial classes are for students who are weak in a particular subject (English/Math/Science); these students are \"selected\" by the school. Supp. classes are for (almost) all students. Before P6, there are supp. classes only for Chinese. In P6, there are supp. classes for all the main subjects. Both remedial classes and supp. classes are weekly and compulsory.
As to whether tuition is necessary, that will depend on (a) your child's progress, (b) how high your expectations are in terms of his/her results and (c) how kiasu you are.
The teachers definitely teach enough for the child to get by.

HI
I will like to know more about the student care and when can we enrol in the student care.
any idea when is the orientation for P1 going to be? -
Ellysia:
In-house student care provider is MCYC (62597579 / 91324676). Mdm Loe is in charge. Students go straight to student care centre/room after school, get lunch coupon (lunch is included in fee), buy and eat food from canteen. Then, optional shower time, nap time for lower primary kids (not sure if this has been discontinued), homework time, finally free/play time. Occasionally, there's a DVD movie. Latest pick-up time is 6:30 pm. During school holidays, there are programmes planned (some at extra charge). About 3-4 teachers. Periodic parent-teacher meetings.HI

I noticed that some Pri school have open house before the registration but seems like ACSP don't have any.
Is the student care at ACSP popular? need to queue up or waiting list? -
Ellysia:
Sec schools need to market themselves to attract the top students, and one way is to have an open house. But which pri school one goes to, largely depends on which phase you're applying under and/or proximity to home. That's why very few pri schools see the need to hold an open house.Thks for reply.

Student care at ACS(P) is quite popular, esp. for lower pri kids, but I don't think there's a waiting list. Why don't you just call them and ask all the Qs you have? -
