Hi all,

My son is in p2 now. I heard that in p3, there will be only 9 classes instead of 11. May I know how will they be streamed into these classes?
And at what other levels are there streaming and based on what? Overall score or particular subjects? Thanks in advance.

Top 40 will go top class. The balance will divide equally. Based on combined english and maths for whole year.

Hi, my girl just got her report book yesterday.

There is a summary page for Chinese scores, with the highest, lowest, mean and SD. Then there is a separate table for CL1.

Is the CL1 for those who are in the first Chinese class?

Btw she is in P2 now.

Yes. CL1 results is from the 1st chinese class.

I was guessing cos she told me her chinese class is the Chinese 1 class and there just happens to be 35 in her chinese class.

Glad that my girl is doing quite well. 2 band 1s and 1 band 2.
This year is still quite honeymoony. I will start kancheonging in P3.

Hi Mummies and Daddies

Hello! I am an old girl and my only child in P1 this year. I realise I am very outdated and have not been catching up well with changes in the education system. Gosh.
May I check with you all the below:

1) Both English and Chinese Composition writing only starts in P2 in MBS? And there is only a Compo test component starting from P2 CA1 or earlier?

2) There is streaming of Chinese at end of P1, with the top 40 students (based on Chinese results) going to the top Chinese class in P2? And there is only one or two top chinese class in P2?

3) What is the Science textbook used for P3? Is it My Pals are here series as well?

4) Class position and level position will only be shown in the report book from P3 onwards?

For my girl, she started writing ‘guided’ Chinese compos this year (P2).

But it is not zuo4 wen2, but kan4 xie3 (see, write).
It usually has 3-4 pictures and kids are supposed to write 8-10 sentences and string them into paragraphs under the guidance of the teacher.

For EL, or is it CL ‘compo’, my girl is able to explain to me in english that there must be an introduction, the main body and the conclusion.

So perhaps the school has started them on composition writing.
