Henry Park Primary

Hi! We are considering enrolling our son into Henry Park. However we would like to know more about the school in terms of environment, staff-students interaction, if there is a variety of school activities (not CCA) such as excursions, in-school activities, etc. Would appreciate it very much if parents can share their views and experiences with the school. Thanks
Environment:
Lots of facilities. 7-storey building with lifts. Micro school football field, 2 lane running track wrapping around the school. 2 'kidszone' to run and lineup.
Activities: Learning journey about 2-3 times a year. Parents can volunteer and follow. They go factories, zoo, bird park etc. -
Thank you for your response.
Other than facilities and infrastructure, is this school student centred? Are the staff caring, approachable and genuinely interested in students not only in academic results but also social development? Or do they overlook students who underperform or who tend to be playful/ naughty?
Thanks -

In this regard, to be frank, all schools are the same. My DS transferred to this school from a neighbourhood school and I think the professionalism of teachers from both schools are the same. Education-wise, I honestly don't know what the hooha about HPPS is...it's really just another neighbourhood school in a more elite neighbourhood!Thank you for your response.

Sometimes I regret taking DS out of his old school which we used to walk him to. Now at HPPS, he needs to wake up by 6am to get the school bus which comes at 630am - results in the whole family being tired and grumpy because we also have to wake up with him.
Honestly, just stick to the school nearest your home - All Schools are really, good schools! -

That micro football field is such a joke...my DS loves football, was in his previous school team, after joining HPPS, training in that micro field, he gave up - he says it's no different than the futsal field in our estate...tccfairmont:

And the learning journeys, again, no different from neighbourhood schools, I think we actually had a bit more in his last school, but mainly because we live in a more industrial/rural part of Singapore, so more convenient for his old school to organise excursions to nearby businesses...I'm still waiting for HPPS to organise a farm excursion... -
Oh yeh - no parent teacher meeting for P1 students this term…WTF??? I’m sitting here in a half empty office because the rest of my colleagues who sends their kids to "lesser" neighbourhood schools are all attending PTMs for their darlings in P1…

P1/2 is 2 times a week, march and sept. Believe P3-6 is June/Dec ? -

I think you mean 2 times a year...was having lunch with my colleagues earlier this week and they were all talking about PTM this Friday, and I was sitting there....what PTM? Sent an email to the teacher and she said no PTM....huzzahroo:

None of my other colleagues send their kids to elite schools, yet they have PTMs every term... -

Apparently to parents living in Jurong to Punggol, they seem hellbent on wanting to send their kids here...I was sucked into that belief too...now facing the reality...

Henry Park primary offer GEP programme to P4 to P6 students.
LOL, HPPS is elite school meh ?
Thus, it is considered an elite school.
Many children from other schools transfer into here, at P4.
Mainstream standard -
may have to check.
(separate out Mainstream students' results, from GEP students' results)
under Phase 2C -
Balloting occurred within 1 km, with very limited seats.
This year, look out for Phase 2A.
