The comparison will never end, so make the best informed decision we can and stay as happy as we can with it. Nothing is perfect in life. 😉

Exactly....the comparison never ends as what the thread starter had stated \" a wicked thread\".... 😉
The best school is the one with the best fit....the one which he or she will be happy studying in...

I agree with augmum, pen88 and becontended. Both are equally good schools but with different cultures, environment and curriculum. The better school is the one that suits your child better.

Jtoh, my username is becontented, it's a 't' not 'd'.
Better clarify cos I found there's a new member called becontended around.

              No problem.
I only started noticing it after someone asked about it. Only then did I realized how close the 2 usernames are.

I attended NYGH open house this year. During the principal’s talk, in Q&A session, a parent stood up and self-introduced as an old RGS girl. She asked Mdm Heng, the principal, to comment on the difference of the two schools. Mdm Heng set her view in mainly 3 points:

1.The secondary school period is the most crucial time for a person to master a second language. If a person misses this period, and only starts to learn the second language in later phase of her life, she may have to put in double effort and expect less result. For Nanyang, it incorporates the learning of the Chinese Language and culture into not only school’s curriculum, but also students’ daily activities. Regardless of a student’s ability with Chinese language at the entry point, as long as the student is willing to learn, Nanyang promises and guarantees that, by the end of the 4 years, she will have good command of the language.

                  2. Nanyang believes that, at secondary school level, the students are still not very mature. Therefore, Nanyang insists on teachers’ guidance, supervision and support.

3.Nanyang emphasizes that a student is a member of a community. The achievement of a student is a result of not just her own hard work, but also the result of her parents, teachers, coaches and others who contribute to her success.

Personally, I feel that Nanyang girls are refined and graceful. RGS girls are natural and outspoken.

Agreed with GreenA and Becontented. My girl has become

Very much outspoken in her nurture manner. Both schools are good. Just which direction you would like your little girl to be immersed in!

Hi, I have gone for the RGS Interview and is going for the NYGH Interview very soon. I am actually asking if NYGH or RGS is a better choice. So, should I go NYGH or RGS? 😓
