Weird, how school knows who qualified since all come from kindergarten with no prior assessment. Does compassvale uses HCL or normal textbook? -

thanks timtim, so no HCL in P1/P2, very good..yes, I think I worry too much about his Chinese standard..
There is no HCL in P1/2. HCL only starts from P3 for top 3 classes. The CL level for P1 and P2 pretty ok, not that difficult. My suggestion is that you need to focus more on writing from P2 at least. I sent my son for compo/compre class since P2 and he did well in school.lukemommy:
proxxie, I am also afraid my boy cannot survive standard Chinese, his pre-school teacher (from N1 to K2) all said his Chinese 'cannot make it' eventhough I let him attend HYPY class and Chinese creative writing , speech and drama classes...I thought only SAP school then have HCL ..
If a student Chinese really very bad, I wonder can don't take HCL in P1 ?
Don't worry too much, you will be amazed how kids can learn and pick up fast!
which enrichment centre you send your boy to for the comp/compre class? -
timtim:
Base on the midyear (first half year) modular test results. Compassvale Primary School used the tested (Chinese) results to select those qualify students for HCL. They are using HCL textbooks. P1.hoo1688:

Hi Timtim and Lukemummy, I might be enrolling my son under phase 2A2 at NCPS for next year intake and would like to know is the stress level manageable there? As my husband was also an old boy of SJIJ and I’m still deciding where to put my son as we have a daughter 1 year younger (born in 2009)too. Both schools are not near as we stay in the east…

from the east -
to St Joseph Junior is nearer, compared to Nan Chiau.
Nan Chiau is very far
SJIJ is affliated to Secondary school.
I’ll choose SJIJ

hi rgmummy, my boy is not studying at NCPS yet, he would be next year..If I have a choice between NCPS and SJIJ, I will choose SJIJ due to the affiliation to SJI (sec) and also the CCAs (football and golf).you r very lucky, 2 pretty good schools to choose from..envy envy.. My cousin was from SJIJ but he stays at Punggol so he choose Punggol Green Pri school instead .His theory is 'clever means clever, go whichever school is the same..' -
Hi Timtim and Lukemummy, thank you both so much for your advice. Yes, I’m in a way considered luckier than some parents… Would have to reconsider for my son’s enrollment now. However, this would also mean that I will to put my daughter in another school and it may be cumbersome to fetch and send them to school daily esp in P3 onwards when they have CCAs in diff schools. Hmmm, I guess we can’t have best of both worlds.

All schools the same, in terms of stress level. NCPS is pretty ok in my view. Put kids first in considering your options, distance is one and they may be tired out or left little time for other things. As you said, come P3 with CCA, logistics may be a headache. NCPS is getting better in terms of workload for students. My son in P4 this year. He used to have lots of homework daily in P1/2, but not anymore now. Maybe sch has changed policy after hearing parents' feedback or maybe it's MOE's direction.
