Just curious – with regard to streaming for P3…does anyone know what grade average in P2 is needed for the "3E" class? What was last year’s approximate cutoff point? It is also my understanding that English and Maths carry the most weight; Mother Tongue is only considered when there is a "tie" between more than one student at the cutoff point. The 3E and 3B classes are somewhat larger than the usual 30 as in P1/P2?

        hi usa-sing1,
as far as i know, they are basing on English and Maths results to do the streaming. Not sure if Mother tongue comes into the picture.
3E and 3B class are best classes?

Yes…heard that for Primary 3 and higher, classes ending with E are the top students, then classes ending with B are the second highest group. Not sure about the grade cutoffs for each but I am guessing that for 3E, the students will have Math/English averages of 90 or higher.

Just verified with DD, she too say she overheard from another kid that 3E is the "top" class.

Teachers will use MT as a benchmark when in situation arises.

Example : Both kids score same marks for Eng/Maths. Then MT marks will be use as the next platform to determine placing.

Can anyone confirm what an approximate cutoff grade average would be between 3E and 3B, or 3B and below? I know the exact average will vary from year to year…but I’m thinking that the top 30-35 kids out of a cohort of 210 (for Primary 2 this year)…probably 90+ average for 3E…for 3B probably mid 80s-90.

                  They used MT? Goodness…
                  DS’s MT is ‘ahem’ excellent

                      Hi Fruitloop,

I'm Ann and my daughter is currently in 1G.

So far, I'm happy with the school bec:
                      1. She's enjoying school and her grades are good (90 and above), except for MT but grateful that she passed haha
                      2. Both her Form and MT teachers are very helpful and open, so any concerns, we can easily approach them.

Hope the above helps, all the best to you!

I’m interested to know if there was any balloting for Qifa’s P1 under phase 2C last year. I was told by the school there was balloting but thought I came across the info from KP forum that there was no balloting,
