      KSP:
for low income they would report slightly higher.

and after tweaking low-income people higher, the median household income is only around $5K monthly? :?

I'm not an ardent PAP supporter, but it doesn't seem logical for them to tweak these figures.

There must be an optimal value for this. They can't be showing the world they are idiot and they also cannot treat us like morons too. The number cannnot be too high or too low as long as majority feel comfortable with it, their job are done.

still not convincing. Although I can't say for sure whether they're honest, knowing statistics can be manipulated, there is no overriding evidence to suggest they're dishonest.

I’m not saying they are manipulating or dishonest. They are just being selective in the selecting the data points. They are doing this to show that our income gap is not as bad. If you can accept this then you can accept whatever they show.

NEVER EVER say our gahmen dishonest - remember the saga of the drink and drive person?

It’s like a prior KSP thread…"stats are like bikini cos"… I would think they (stats) are telling the truth, presentation will determine what you lay your eyes on.

Please see my post above. I just edited.

                    Also read this :
                    http://www.singstat.gov.sg/stats/themes/people/hist/popn.html

Scroll to the bottom and read the fine print.

Why is it so hard to believe that most households in Singapore earn below $10K ? 😉

My sources of information are from :
                    http://www.singstat.gov.sg

I don't believe the stats either. I have been working in the financial industry for more than 10 years and all I see are ppl coming in with huge cheques all the time. Increasingly, I see young people, in their twenties, who already have $100 K+ to their name. And my young colleagues who get married, can afford to throw lavish weddings in expensive hotels and go for expensive honeymoons like spending 20K in South Africa/Europe or flying to Taiwan to take their wedding pictures. All this I am sure, is funded by a high salary base.

maybe a change of job to working in a welfare organisation will change your view hehe.

For every banker in society, there are maybe 1000 low-income workers.
