    • RE: Poi Ching

      I’m looking for Poi Ching school students (just looking for 2, one to one tution), who live near the school, who needs tuition in math, but at a very reasonable rate of $20/hr. My niece is in Poly and looking to be self-sufficient. She lives within walking distance to the school. She taught a primary 6 girl and her primary 5 brother. The girl had been failing math but after only 4 months with my niece, she managed to get C for psle last yr. Her parents were expecting her to be in the NT stream but she managed to get into NA. However, this P6 girl did not put in much effort and it was a challenge to teach her, The brother, on the other hand, did the work given by her diligently and he improved tremendously from 50+ (SA1) to 70+(CA2). I do not know how he did for his SA2. The boy has been asking for my niece to teach him but the mother said no $ to pay for tutor:( Anyone who would like my niece to tutor, pls PM me. Thanks!

    • RE: Mummy TheAnswer's Home

      TA, you really did run away from home? I only entertained the thoughts but never carried out. All my 3 girls when younger also talked to me about runaway from home at times when I scolded them. I told them they could entertain the thoughts but pls don’t carry it out as it would really make me sad. For my girls, I would like to think it was due to the many kiddie books that I read to them about runny away from home!

    • RE: Berries - Discussion

      I’ve sent my children to Berries since 2004 and now my youngest is also attending Berries at Hougang. I really like Berries pre-school programme. I have also sent my 3rd child to Berries at Bishan branch but experience was just ok, I personally prefer the teachers and Principal at Hougang branch, though Bishan is nearer for me.

      http://i59.tinypic.com/keakjt.jpg\"> pleae help with this question .thx

      1/4 of C --> 1/3 of J (make numerator the same but it is already the same to begin with]
      so, C has 4u and J has 3u to begin with.

      Charles: June
      = 4u : 3u
      -150 : +80
      ----------------
      2p : 5p

      Making the parts the same, meaning x5 for Charles and x2 for June,
      20u = 6u + 160 + 750
      14u = 910,
      1u = 65
      Answer: Charles had 4u, $260 and June had 3u, $195

      This method can be found in Onsponge:)

      Please help

      The number of girls that signed up for choir was 60% of the number of boys that had signed up . On the actual day CCA , 33 boys and 33 girls withdrew. As a result there were 2/7 as many girls as boys. What was the total number of children that attended the choir practice?
      Use difference in ratio remains unchanged as same number of boys and girls withdrew.

      At first, G : B : diff = 3 : 5 : 2 = 15 : 25 : 10
      Later, G : B : diff = 2 : 7 : 5 = 4 : 14 : 10
      15u - 4u = 11u --> 33
      1u --> 3
      Actual number attended --> 28u = 28 x 3 = 54 children.

      COOKIE64:
      :nailbite:

      Alex ,Betty,and Cindy shared some stamps in the ratio 1:5:6. When each of them bought another 9 stamps. The ratio becomes 5:13:15 find the total number of stamps the three children have now.
      Since each bought same number of stamps, make the difference in the 2 ratios the same.

      At first, A : B : C = 1 : 5 : 6 = 2 : 10 : 12 (first ratio x2 each)
      Later, A : B : C = 5 : 13 : 15 (now difference between both ratios are 3u)
      3u --> 9
      1u --> 3
      Total in the end, 33u --> 33 x 3 = 99 stamps.
