P1 Mini byte sized Term Tests cannot be set difficult.
Does P1 results really help in increasing chances?
P1 is not that tough to score over 90% in average.
Most have no problem scoring full marks in certain subjects.
Because they just fresh out of kindergarten.
Schools want to make sure that our kids enjoy going to schools.
that the kids look forward to schools everyday, to learn new things, to adopt a positive attitude towards learning.
Schools want kids, to be confident.
Schools want kids, to look forward to go to school, everyday.
They just start out their journey in primary schools, only in P1.
Long way to go.
So, the P1 Tests cannot be set, difficult.
If difficult, it will put them off.
Then pupils say they don't want to go to school tomorrow, because they find this subject or that subject, difficult.
Thus, Tests are normally set in such a way where majority of students should be able to answer.
Perhaps occassionally, may throw in one or two slightly \"thinking\" questions, for Maths.
For P1 English -
Just ensure that the child had learnt the grammar rules (present tense, past tense, etc), singular, plural, sounds of animals, movement of animals, different occupations, etc.
For P1 Chinese -
Standard varies, between SAP schools vs. non SAP schools.
May take a look at a sample Test paper between these two, can tell the difference.
For P1 Maths -
If child is not careless type, normally can score full marks.
But Sometimes child don't get perfect score, because lost a lot of marks through silly, careless mistakes.
Is not that they don't know how to do.
Or sometimes, child never bother to read the question carefully word by word, or a bit lazy to read.
Just quickly do it, get it done, did not bother to check the work, again.
Carelessness, \"laziness\", are often silent killers, for Maths.
Overall, P1 is an enjoyable learning stage, for kids.
Many of them are carefree, innocent, chirpy, happy, in P1. -
My sister wants to register her DD for school A in phase 2A but possibly withdraw if the chances for school B appears good - she will be in phase 2B for school B. Reason for preferring school B is distance , much nearer her house.
Is that possible? To withdraw from school A just before registering for school B? How long does it take to complete the withdrawal process ? -

If we plan to watch the situation and withdraw at the last hour of Phase 2C, do we need to station ourselves in School A or School B?
Or 1 parent in each school?
Will School A allow us to withdraw with only 1 parent there?
Will School B allow us to apply with only 1 parent around?
Thanks. -

:scared:
anyone knows if the \"balance seat\" will be released on the day itself? i wonder how to monitor the available seat then... unlike buying hdb flat, still can see the \"result\" immediate / live.. -
yeap yeap, I have the same questions. if we come into phase 2b, for those parents who withdraw from phase 2a, will these seats automatically spill over to 2B and 2C?

Yes the balance will be recounted and updated on the spot. Some schools use the white board to show the vacancies and the in-charge will just erase and update with the new figure on the spot. -

Yes, in this case, the withdrawn seat (from 2A) will automatically be carried forward to phase 2B. This is provided that the withdrawal happens in phase 2B and the withdrawal comes from someone who got a vacancy at 2A(2).
However, If the withdrawal happens during the current phase of 2A, it goes back into the 2A pool for the 2A applicants.
Hope this clarifies. -
When is registration for next year 2015 open? How do parents start the process going? Iβm about to move house temporarily for 4 months till my new place is ready so Iβm worried I miss the deadline if I donβt get the mailer. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks
