My 2cts - have been using eye relax myself. It stops the lao hua/mypoia from worsening. Son also uses it and his mypoia has stabilised the last 2 years.
Eh, stabilize only is it ? Not cure ? -

I was thinking tics have more to do with nervous system. Has been asking ds when does he has the sudden urge to flick his fingers (definitely can't control). He tells me when he is excited like watching a good documentary, or trying to do a very challenging math problem or when trying to master new songs. I told him it's all in the mind. If he feels less nervous, less excited, less anxious, the tics issue will go away. But dh told me his tics is more of his body signalling him to rest due to fatigue or being confined in an enclosed area for too long (like watching cinema or long haul flight).
So I guess tics give a different signal to different people.
I believe there is some truth to what u shared here. My friend said the same thing too. She mentioned that when her child is anxious or stressed, her tics become more pronounced too.
Hopefully when the child's body and nervous system become more matured and stable, the tics will eventually go away.
All these talk about tics is making me want to revert to my old tics... I have had my fair share when I was in Primary school. For me, it was mainly psychological - I get them only when I was thinking about them.
Hey CKS, you sound like ds. He told me not to mention it because it can get him started. Yes, I agree it is a psychological too. It's all in the mind. Must also know what triggers the tics off.
By the way, I think we OT too much on tics on this eye thread. Would you be able to set up a separate thread and move the tics discussion in a new thread? Please

Hopefully when the child's body and nervous system become more matured and stable, the tics will eventually go away.
I have a math relief teacher when I was in primary two. I can remember his name, his famous often repeated sentences and of course his famous eyes blinking, gulping movement until today. I think need to find out what causes the tics. DH has different reasoning, ds has different reasoning, dd cannot give any reasoning. DS tics is very obvious when playing a new song. When he is trying to learn, to perfect his playing on the first day. Second day, the tic less obvious. By the 3rd time practise on the second day, he feels he has justifiably able to play reasonably well, the tics stop.
It will resurface again , when he has to learn a new song the following week. -

as part of our TV-diet regime, we had promptly returned our Starhub startup box this afternoon - but dh made a blunder and returned an extra cable, so i am now left with TV programmes (dvds still work though). So i picked up my library book and on the 2nd page of the story, came across this...
Myokymia

Thanks jedamum…now I know there is a proper name for that condition. But I doubt my girl’s case was coz by stress. Dec holidays for 6-7 yo, where got stress, unless it’s stress from watching too much cartoons.

think I mentioned this thing about multi-focal lens some pages ago. believe it is basically another form of the 'old flower' progressive lens. not sure if this link has been provided before.

My son has been on otho-k for the past 2 years. It does not cure myopia. His deg. went up too fast - 100 deg within 6 months. So need to put on otho-k to stablise it and prevent from increasing too quickly. And the beauty is that he has perfect vision throughout the day without anything on. Less worries for me as he is physically very active. -
Does anyone know about reading positions? My son now likes to look downwards when reading, ie he puts the book on the floor and reads while seated (on floor) facing down.
Will this worsen myopia? Tks.
