      someone:

There are many 'hot' schools...with new ruling, does that mean parents who are former students of those schools (phase 2A) staying more than 2km will have to ballot, or don't stand a chance?
from past years' enrolment statistics in Nanyang -
majority of 2A fall under > 2 km.

      P2A > 2 km now need standby plan(s).

In the event balloting occur & they got balloted out under 2A -
they will enrol the child into their nearby neighbourhood school, under P2C < 1 km.

      Some 2A > 2 km smart : devise strategy.
      example
made use of child's grandparents address located < 2km, to enrol.
This way : they can enrol their child under 2A (1 to 2) km, instead of > 2 km.

      So if 2A > 2 km ballot -
They'll escape balloting : because grandparents' address help them overcome, falling under (1 to 2) km instead.

only way to enter Phase 2B now (if PV is removed) -

is to join Grassroot activity route & shift < 1 km, from popular school, in order to be in the correct GRC :-

Heard during the nyps pri one talk over the weekend that nyps principal mentioned grassroot leaders for last year was 90+, not sure if she meant 90+ for bt timah grc or whole of singapore. Anyone knows?

She also mentioned they have reduced PVs to ~25 per year

thanks @phtthp for the update. my wife and i were at the talk at Nanyang Primary School last Saturday. very informative, but also a bit worried for Phase 2A2, even though your analysis shows that there is nothing to worry about.

i am just afraid there may suddenly be an influx of 2A2 on that day, and many people will lose out.

my wife is in 2A1, but her best friend will be in 2A2 should she choose to enrol her daughter in Nanyang. i tried to convince the friend to enrol, but she is afraid of the stress in Nanyang… sigh…

by the way, check out http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissi ... ukit-timah

as of yesterday, 157 have already registered for Nanyang Primary. Phase 1 is still continuing today, so the \"leftovers\" will reduce further...

@fabbie out of curiosity, if 2A2 needs balloting and you don’t get it, do you have a backup school?

@jkwleong i have no choice i have to go for 2a2 which is nyps… It will be silly for me to give up 2a2 and go for 2c right? i know how ya friend feel cus i was in that stage whether to give up 2a2. After consult many friends i realize i cant give up 2a2. cus im scare at the end got no sch… so thats why i decided to go for it. if didnt get in nvm at least i try. ^^ its not a die die i wana go thats why i didnt join alumni.

If 2a2 fail i will be going for 2c which is a neighborhood school which i feel better not as stress as nyps n nearer to my house ^^. and i would prefer that actually ^^ but also worry that if 2c fail also how. haiz. stress…

@fabbie sigh… The things we stress for our kids… If can’t get in via 2C and later 3, MOE will step in and force upon a school onto your girl. And then she cannot transfer to another primary school at all.

                      All the best!
