luckily MOE reserved 40 places for P2B and P2C this year.
If not, some schools like St Nics and Catholic High don't even have to proceed to P2B.
Who knows MOE might reserve 20 seats for P2A2 next year onwards? That is, before start of P1 reg , 60 places to be reserved for P2a2, P2b and P2c.
Don't know what will happen to P2A1 in 3 years time..can only plan for my DD2 which school to go to in 2017 for 2018 intake..just settled DS1 school today , `rest' for 3 years and `battle' time again..
possible that next time, MOE may increase 40 reserved seats to 50, first.
60 is a lot.
Many 2A will feel suffocated : if raise to 60.
Judging From St Nick, Catholic High, Henry Park, Nan Hua so far -
Next year 2015 registration : will see a soar in 2A1.
Many 2A2 won't dare to take chances, many will move up into 2A1.
Going forward, it is possible that future 2A2 can dwindle down to zero, in these very popular schools.
As for the Full schools -
They may evaluate situation.
In the past, because no seats need to be reserved for Phases 2B and 2C until starting this year, so all 2A could enter, smoothly.
But since 40 seats are reserved now, it may be possible that come one day -
Even in the 5 full schools, they may impose restriction that only those who were ex students before in the primary school, then can register under 2A.
Those ever studied only in Secondary Full schools before, but not in primary full schools -
cannot register under 2A.
We shall see if this will come to pass, one day.

OMG 42! Did the parents before hand knew about the new rule for P1 on the 40 slots?? How come suddenly so many Alumnis?
All along I thought Phase 2A2 is quite safe for direct entry hence I didn't bother to apply for Alumni. Haiz..I think next year Alumni for all schools will increase a lot given this new rule on the 40 slots for 2B/C.
I have a strong feeling balloting is required for SC in 2A2 next week for Nan Hua.
Just don't know if it will hit the 1-2Km or >2KM.
I think those within 1KM should be quite safe.
If only the rule for using grandparents address can fall under 1KM too........
But, if 2A2 ballot within 1 to 2 km -
means all those Nan Hua ex-students staying > 2 km : no chance to come back.

haa yaa..St Nic is the champion this year...probably the only school that need ballot for within 1km in 2A2!
why this year there is a jump in the number of 2A1 enrolled at St Nic, compared to past years ?
does it mean that some 2A1 parents inside had got hold of insider info that MOE going to reserve 40 seats in advance first, before MOE actually announce? -

Within 1 km from Ai Tong under 2C but based on past records, its tough..should I just go for Guangyang instead?

Guangyang traditionally has places in P2CS, so this can be a good backup school for you. Unless you do not want to go through balloting, it is worth trying for Ai Tong first. -

Doubt it. As it is, the 40 places reserved for P2B and P2C are meant to pacify people who feel some who qualify for P2A2 do not deserve to have priority over those who stay nearer to the schools.
As for P2A1, people who qualify under this phase usually contribute to the schools in one way or another. -
