      seathtan:
      hi all,

Would like to solicit opnions from all:

In view of the tight vacancies situation at MGS, will it be wise to move our focus to Geylang Methodist for P2B? The problem is it's a good 10-12km away from where we live, I wonder if it's a pragmatic choice, considering it would be a day-to-day travel for the kid?

I would like to hear from those experienced parents staying relatively far from the school and their experiences. Thank you.

      ST
      It really depends.

We stay in Sembawang, DS studies in Bishan (shortest route 13km usually jam, alternate route can be up to 19km), DS took school bus (just before 6am) when he is in primary school, secondary (same school) go by himself. Now when I asked him if he will send his child to the same school, he says, \"YES\".

So check with the school if there is a school bus from your place to the school, if yes, good, if no, well you have to ask yourself if you are willing to send your child to school for 6 solid years, children no effect on them, get onto the car and the child \"zZzZz...\" till he/she reaches school. Alternately, move near to school.

10 km away is no joke, especially when the child needs to go for CCA from pri 3 onwards.
If got school bus, always can catch CCA school bus...

Hi, I am also one of the parents registering my DD for P1 (2015). Intend to enrol her for P2B within 1km (PV scheme) in HWS. Based on the number of PV (approx. 70+, no clue of the demographic distribution), likely Ballot is inevitable.

My query is, if the total vacancies after phase 2A2 + (40 pre-allocated) split between 2B and 2C is a odd number i.e. 49 vacancies + 40 = 89. there is 44.5 vacancies for each phase? Anyone advise?

Why can't schools like Catholic High increase their P1 intake? They are taking in only 210 vs Nanyang 390?
Cath High is 240, NYPS is 300.

              Not enough classroom

Cath High has increased from 210 to 240 as I have mentioned before with the same premise.

ST Nics is newly renovated / upgraded, they should be able to handle 1 more class.

Ai Tong now under upgrading, maybe can increase intake when neccessary, but current 330 is really the biggest number.

Can someone tell me if online registration is safe or should I go to the school personally to register for phase 2c?

When you are in school, the school staff registers for you online from their computers too.

Only one parent is required for P1 registration.

It is not on first come first serve basis. If it is, I would be camping outside the school already.
