Oh...didn't realize that! I thought I could register at sch A on 1st day of 2c, monitor and should it have high chance of balloting then I withdraw and register on 3rd day at sch B. No???
Since it is within the same phase, you might as well monitor and register only on the third day, rather than going through the trouble of registering with School A on the first day, only to withdraw on the third day and register with School B. -
phtthp:
Hard to say still ve tomolo. Finger crossbased on figures so far -
3 full schools : MGS, SCGS, Maris Stella manage to escape 2A2 balloting
Ai Tong, Red Swastika, Fairfield Methodist also escape.

You don't need both parents to be present for the registration. -

If everyone is likeminded, expect to see many last minute walk in registrations in the last hour of 2C. As such, the registration figures published on first few days of phase 2C will be grossly understated :yikes: :nailbite: -

This has been the case for years. Those who have registered early are understandably upset. But what to do? MOE doesn't prohibit such action (esp. the last minute withdrawal and registration).

there may be some parents with 2 ex primary schools to choose from, who are monitoring today situation closely first, before placing final bet tomorrow.
So, tomorrow may still have some coming down to register.
these people can be :-
- parents who ever Transferred primary school before, so they're holding 2 report cards.
- father from one school, mother from another school.
So, there're 2 schools to choose from.
since they've a choice, they won't pick those schools that need to ballot in 2A2.
Unless ... they're unaffected because they're staying < 1 km, where they don't need to ballot, whereas > 2km in the same popular, hot school, need to ballot.
These people will not register on Day 1.
they don't want to register on Day 1 already, then later decide to withdraw on Day 2, go somewhere else. Troublesome !
They might as well wait patiently until Day 2 with hawk eyes, see the coast clearly, before making the final ultimate decision, enrol once and for all on Day 2 itself, bypassing all those unnecessary withdrawal and re-register wasting time process. -
Jworld:
Yes, feel sad for Henry Park and Nan Hua 2A2, who need to ballot.
very sad for those have to compete in 2A2. Last time ex students and school staff very confirmed can get. now so competitive.
My DD safely secured a space in 2A1 in another school liao.
But am watching this thread, cuz I very anxious for other parents.
Even in 2A1 also got stress.
My palms were sweating whole day. I feel for the 2A2 group and onwards.
you all must jia you!
because they had spent 6 years in their alma mater, or spent 3 years (for those Transfer over for GEP purpose).
These parents have emotional ties and bondage, with their alma mater.
but CHIJ St Nicholas ( Full school ) not really.
because inside 2A2, got Secondary school students whose primary school was not even St Nick primary.
The same apply to Catholic High primary, another Full school.
inside 2A2 : also got Secondary school students who never studied in Catholic High primary, before.
And I'm wondering ... how big is this number of Secondary school students never studied in the primary, before ?
only the Alumni old boys / old girls Association of St Nick / CHS know this ... secret number, particularly those involved in handling registration of alumni members, into OBA / OGA. -
phtthp:
Is this true? I always thought only the school that issues the leaving cert (ie. the school where psle was taken) is applicable :scratchhead:

as long as you can show report card proof that you'd ever studied in that primary school before, can go in already.
The school only looking for proof that you are an ex-student from that school. That's all.
Example
GEP students
P1 to P3 : study in a non GEP school
P4 to P6 : changed to a GEP school
PSLE cert : only reflect the GEP school PSLE results
but this parent is holding 2 report cards.
So, can this parent (say, mother) go back to enrol in her (P1 to P3) alma mater, using her report card ?
Of Course !
But do you think she'll want to choose the Non-GEP school ?
most people think she won't : because given a choice between a GEP school and a non-GEP school, obviously she would pick the GEP school, right ?
Answer :
may not be.
look at Henry Park (GEP school) : need to ballot now, at 2A2
Suppose she come from say, River Valley primary. (non GEP)
suppose she fall under 2A2 > 2km, from Henry Park.
given a choice between HPPS (need to ballot) vs River Valley, which is a safer bet ?
River Valley !
another scenario
suppose another parent (father) also 2A2 > 2km, from Nan Hua primary.
suppose this father also holding 2 report cards : Nan Hua and say, Fairfield Methodist primary.
now that Nan Hua has to ballot, which one will he choose ?
Fairfield Methodist : because no need to ballot, very safe.
when come to 2A2 -
no need to just rely on PSLE Cert.
if you want that, can.
if not, use Report card, also can.
is there any minimum number of years that you must study in a school, to say that you are an ex student from there ?
MOE never state any minimum number of years.
So long as you can show report card, schools will accept this reason.
schools just looking for proof
Report card is the proof
