Kei kei:
Yes, RGPS has always been accepting SC PV, even those staying more than 2 km.Hi,
Does anyone knows whether RGPS and SCGS accept PV that stays more than 2km?
last year (2013) -
all SC PV got in : including > 2 km.
(not sure about SCGS) -
Dear phtthp
I have PM a note for your advice.
Appreciate your response when you get time. -
Phase 2B SC GRL applicants, may take note -
- SCGS and RGPS happen to come under the same \"Moulmein-Kallang\" Constituency.
On the last day of 2B -
if balloting risk is too intense at SCGS, some of you may want to hop over.
- these four schools (Nanyang, Pei Hwa, Henry Park, MGS) primary :
belong to another, different \"Holland-Bukit Timah\" Grassroot Constituency.

Hi, looking at the current registration rates for RGPS, what are the chances for SC >2km in Phase 2C?
Is RGPS setting a cap for the maximum number of vacancies in Phase 2B and for those who do PV?
And how does the withdrawal process work? That is, if we intend to withdraw from a school where we have obtained a confirmed place, do we need to go down straight to that schoool to withdraw or do we do it online somewhere?
Finally, does the online registration for Phase 2C, which has been implemented this year, allow a single parent who is divorced to do the application online? Cos I see that both parents' singpass is required for online application. So will a single parent with full sole custody, care and control of the child be able to use the online system with one singpass alone?
Sorry for line-up of questions. I appreciate your help here

15 July 2014 (born 2008)
RGPS 2A2 : 38 registered, 121 vacancies
2A2 : no need to ballot
http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissi ... ukit-timah
4 other schools need to ballot :-
http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singap ... past-years
==========================================
Vacancies for Phase 2B : 62, compared to 26 last year (2013)
increased by 36 seats more ( a lot)
http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/event ... n-phase-2b
Vacancies for Phase 2C : 61, compared to 57 last year (2013)
http://www.rafflesgirlspri.moe.edu.sg/e ... statistics -
i am slightly outside 2km of RGPS… what is your view of balloting at all for phase 2C?
-
Since two years ago : 2012 and 2013 (last year) -
Phase 2B : did not go through balloting
This year experience a high number of vacancies for 2B : 62
The number of PVs had been reduced tremendously, since 2013.
GRL not a lot.
(normally below 10 : coming from Moulmein-Kallang GRC)
So, this year 2B is safe.
For GRL under Phase 2B
only SCGS and RGPS two \"All Girls\" schools, fall under \"Moulmein-Kallang\" GRC.
Four other schools in Bukit Timah (Nanyang, Pei Hwa, Henry Park, MGS), fall under another different constituency : Holland-Bukit Timah.
Since they come under different Constituency, under Phase 2B -
parents who are eyeing those 4 very hot, popular over-subscribed schools, unable to contest for Rgps.
refer
http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissi ... f-schools/
Under Moulmein-Kallang Constituency -
Since SCGS has an affliated Secondary school, SCGS is definitely much more popular.
parents prefer to choose SCGS.
Their daughter can study for next 10 years : from Primary 1 to Secondary 4, all the way, so long as able to meet affliated PSLE cut off point, at around lower end of 23x+.
In contrast, RGPS not affliated to RGS Secondary.
To enter RGS Secondary : minimum PSLE T score is around 261.
261 expectation is high.
Unless they can enter via DSA first, before sitting for PSLE : through Music, Sports, other Talent route, plus having good academic P6 report card achieved.
Nowadays, a few Secondary schools offer DSA.
Where entering RGS Secondary is concerned, for those DSA intended applicants -
a good, reasonable academic record is expected, besides Excel in whichever DSA route child trying to enter via.
Not just only good in Sports, but study not so good.
Not just good in one aspect only, say Sports.
RGS Secondary looking for ... all rounders.
The difference between affliated SCGS 23x vs. 261, is huge.
more than 30 points difference.
Now, it's just waiting to see ... out of 62 vacancies in 2B -
how many seats will be left behind, for 2C ?
If there're many seats left behind for 2C -
then possible to see balloting ... greater than 2km this year.
But if not many seats left at end of 2B,
then likely to ballot within 1 to 2 km.
however, as balloting always carry risks -
Please have a backup school for Phase 2C Supplementary : should you decide to take your chance at balloting, in 2C.
Because once you withdraw from an earlier Phase (eg: Phase 1 or 2A) -
you cannot go back to this school that you'd withdrawn from, anymore.
You can only go forward, but can't go backward.
So parents, please do consider very, very carefully, before you withdraw.
As far as schools in Bukit Timah neighbourhood are concerned -
If fail to ballot in RGPS at 2C : Bukit Timah primary still has vacancies, for Phase 2C Supp.
Rest of the schools in this neighbourhood, would be 100 % full house, by end of 2C.
Under Phase 2C : PR zero chance.
If you're worried, perhaps consider Transfer, as an alternative solution instead.
If not from Bukit Timah neighborhood -
may refer last year (2013) list of schools that need to ballot under 2C, or 2C Supplementary:-
http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum ... start=1020
Good luck & All the Very best to all, in the next few weeks ahead, going thru 2B and 2C. -
hello am new here, dd1 just confirmed into RGPS via 2a2. looking fwd to chat more with all in future

-
I saw that as of today, total vacancies left in RGPS is approx 102 which is twice the available vacancies compared to the same phase last year. I stay > 2km from RGPS and is an SC. What are my chances of getting a placement or even qualify for balloting at phase 2c?
-
With 101 vacancies for 2C -
there is a possibility for SC 2C > 2 km, to ballot.
But must have a backup school for 2C Supp.
Once withdraw from an earlier phase school, cannot go back anymore, regardless of what balloting outcome under 2C you get.
another thing need to alert you was last year (2013) :-
on the last day of P2C, after 3.30 pm onwards, last minute suddenly got a lot of parents from less than 1 km, plus those staying between 1 to 2 km, walking in at the 11th hour to register.
This threw SC > 2 km off course, with no time to withdraw nor react, in a lurch.
really hope that this year: all parents staying within 2 km, kindly co-operate.
if you wish to apply Rgps : kindly register early before 12 noon, by the last day of p2C.
be considerate to those SC > 2 km.
put yourself into their shoes.
don't leave them in the lurch last time, no time to react.
last day of 2C, by 3.30 pm, if you are SC > 2 km, quickly confirm with P1 officer -
any chance to come in ?
if Officer confirm no chance for > 2 km, at Rgps -
for those without any school for their dd -
can consider go Marymount Convent primary, or St Margaret primary.
at Phase 2C : these two schools still have vacancies, to absorb SC.
by end of 2C : St Margaret will be full house.
Marymount last year still have vacancies for 2C Supp, but very limited.
But if you're SC and choose Marymount at 2C : still got high chance.
for those who're worried : consider seek Transfer safer, towards end of P3.
