      Double E:
      Mummies

My son had his 2nd spelling test yesterday. And thank God, this time he got all correct. Happy for him cos he tried and is paying attention to what the teacher read. For me, I was actually feeling nervous when I saw his spelling book in his bag yesterday, my heart skipped abit when I was opening the book to see his result. OMG! i can't believe I am feeling that, is only a K1 spelling test for goodness sake!!. I really need to control my own emotions and anxiety.
Please don't be so hard on the child and yourself. As u rightly pointed out, it's only K1. The last thing you want is for both of you to burn out before P1. The education journey is long (a good 10 years, P1-S4) and there will be the ups and downs.

You don't want your child, ASD or otherwise to equate marks with a mother's love and happiness/pride. One step at a time and celebrate the little victories. And it doesn't need to be 100/100 all the time. More importantly, the child enjoys school and learning, and his emotional and social well-being is taken care of. The education part will slowly fall into place.

        Hi Double E,

Congrats! I hope one day in the near future my son can perform as well academically as your son! But as of now I don't see the signs yet! 😓

                Good news indeed!

Couragemom, 1 year ago, I also didn't think my son will be able to ride a bicycle, dance and perform on stage cos like you, I don't see the signs at all. But today, he can. So we should all have faith. They may be slower than others, but they will reach there some day, some how. :rahrah:

It is my turn to shout hooray today. Yeah!

I went to the Taka Toy Fair this afternoon. The q to pay was horribly long. It went right to the other exit near Watsons. My son helped me pack the toys into a bag and stayed around me throughout that 20 odd minutes as we wait for our turn to pay. I even asked him to stand in the q while I do a last minute shopping around the area. He followed me the first time with the bags of toys I entrusted him. I put him back in the q and told him to follow the front. He stood slightly out of the line when I came back. Not perfect, but was good enough for me. Yeah!

                        Hi Double E,

Why so nervous on the spelling test? My so is K1 too, I think the comprehension is more difficult than the spelling. I already started let him do some comprehension and composition worksheet for pre-schooler. But just do it and don’t care the test results too much.
