I would think it will be interesting for 2B this year. Likely to ballot for 1-2km.
No chance for >2km

That would be 2A i suppose. Doesnt solve the 2B mystery of oversubscribed for >2km while the other 3 schools are a shoo-in.
From my perspective, it is all to do with location but not in the same light as Floppy. 3 of the 4 schools were in the city area. 2 of whom had to head west due to reasons not of their choosing. The only remaining one - SJIJ continues to attract Old Boys and its allure remains unchanged due to its location and ties to the history of St Michaels School (its former name). -

Its possible, however, i have also heard of SSS had slightly more pupils scoring >250 than SJI Jr in the last year of T-score. So its all up for debate.
I guess PSLE scores are better at SJI Jr? Admission to SJI is not a guarantee even if you go to these four schools. I can see that The difference between affiliated and non-affiliated cut off scores is not that high for SJI. Could this be a factor for the popularity of SJI Jr despite equal priority with the other three schools? -

Should just rename the 4 affiliated primary schools as: SJI Junior ABCD/1234.
-

Pupils in SJI Jr dont get priority for admission into SJI or St Pat’s over De La Salle, St Anthony’s and St Stephen’s. Hence i’m always puzzled how come SJI Jr is the hot favourite while the other 3, you can literally be guaranteed a place and enjoy the same priority.
Actually we are looking at St Anthony's Primary since it is slightly closer to us but it is still quite a distance for us. Two bus rides just to get to that school. We shall look into De La Salle as an option then! Thank you! -

those schools that traditionally ballots within 1km, your best bet is to shift within 1km. At least it gives you a chance to ballot. over time, this will be the scenario. For next year, i suppose 1-2km still in with a chance.
Even if SCs shift to between (1 to 2 km) -Orb\" post_id=\"2037904\" time=\"1631582139\" user_id=\"25015:
With the new policy, the shift is for parents to move to within 2km of the school. Thats what the govt wants, and thats how the game is played.
St Nick primary 2A girls' seats also not guaranteed, because of balloting involved in the combined 2A phase now, plus \"Full\" school status.
If unlucky balloted out, have to go to another 2B / 2C school, to enrol. -

RE: NEW ! New P1 registration rules for 2022
In my opinion, it does gives parents two bites of the cherry. (One in the earlier phase, the other in 2C). If the govt wants more 2C parents to enter these schools due to proximity, then parents will just play by the rules and move within 1km of the school to be assured of a place.
Next year will be a good guage of how the game is played. -

Did you know SJI Junior used to be called St Michael’s? My cousin attended it in the 1980s, it wasn’t that popular. After re-named to SJI x, suddenly Catholics viewed it as “better” than the other Catholic boys schools.
Yup. They had an idea and came up with a JTP (Josephian Talent Prigramme) to develop top pupils in the school so they can continue into SJI. Hence the name changed.Orb\" post_id=\"2033318\" time=\"1628208703\" user_id=\"25015:
The fix it remedy: Rename St Stephen's School to SJI Primary and lets see what happens.
As per one of my posts, I’m not familiar with St. Stephen’s. I do, however, find the data on St. Stephen’s an abnormality.
Interest in SJIJ is always high, and in recent years, running close to or balloting for SC < 1km in Phase 2C. Yet, SSS which shares exactly the same affiliation, carries extra places into Phase 2CS every year. If we put aside the differences in locality, there’s really no reason why that should happen.
The idea was also to open it up to the other 3 affiliated schools as well. But it didnt take off and the programme was scrapped but the name wasnt. Lolx
