Thanks, Mathspark, for taking time to share on the DSA portfolio.

Looks like I better start looking into this, even though DS is in P5 now. Looks more \"chimp\" than my job application resume :!: Maybe it's becos my DS has nothing to put in there and I think I need to scatch my head very hard to think of something to put in :stupid:

Really appreciate those parents who are so selfless in sharing info. This really makes this forum very useful and informative to clueless parents like me. Thanks again.

Is it true that for DSA, the affiliation cut off point will apply?

Are there any watchouts if we want to try under music DSA in the future eg. school band? Are there any thing that need to be achieved to support that?

Those additional stuff like strong in chinese S&D will that help?

Sorry, I am very very green to this area. Kids only in P3 and P2 but wanted to plan ahead.

                  .
It depends on the sec school to set the points. For most schools, just making the express stream cut-off points will do (for some schools, this is 188, for some, they take 200).

But there are schools that set their own requirement. eg, a friend's son was asked to make 220 as a condition for his dsa offer under sports. And another was given the condition of 225 under chinese orchestra(this child actually didn't make that 225 in the end and had to apply for another school under s1 posting).

If I am not wrong, the DSA portfolio is more for the GEP students applying for DSA.

For mainstream students, they just need to download the appln form from the school's website. Different schools have different requirements but generally, the photocopied result slips(pri 4 to 6 midyear) , cca and academic awards and achievements are definitely a must. Some schools require a personal statement by the child and teachers' recommendations.

Actually some schools don't even ask for the certificates until the results of the HAST are out.

I noted that there are 2 cut off. Eg. affiliation and non-affiliation. So in the case of DSA, which do we apply? My niece was telling me affiliation.

Also, any idea what is SYF certification?

For instance in my daughter's case - SYF Chinese Dance - Gold with Honours. A certificate is given for the achievement.
