Hi all, how I discovered my son is a bit dyslexic, it all started when he was born prematurely. Due to that, he had frequent visits to KKH and he has speech therapy sessions to start with as he only begin to talk about 3 plus. And when he started Kindergarten, we found that he struggles with very simple words. So we brought him to enrichment class and it was when that class teacher mentioned to us that he’s progressing slower than they thought and found that he struggles with words. So that was when we took him to Dyslexic Association of Singapore for an assessment and he was diagnosed with mild Dyslexia. He doesn’t like to read and when it comes to spelling, he can only managed 3 letter words. And even you’ve practiced with him for 2 of the 3 letter words spelling, he can forget within a minute.

He is currently attending classes in the DAS and his teacher asked me to check for a school with AED to help him in Primary School so I’m happy that ZD has.But am within 1km thus crossing my fingers can get in

Now that you mentioned, I realise my DD has similar issues. Initially, she can't remember her spelling, she will forget whatever we teach her immediately. She can't even remember simple words like \"For\", \"then\" etc. But she is very talkative and can reason well. We keep encouraging her and rewards her for the right spelling, she is doing better these days, but still lack behind her peers. Her Kindergarten teachers advise us to help her learn to focus, so we make her do lots of puzzle. Not sure if that Dyslexia too?

Still undecided. Rm is more accessible to me even though its further away. :imconstipated: still thinking...

There's very little info abt That Sch le. Do u know whats the sch's motto and vision? Seems nowhere to be found.
Ha..KC, looks like u r still sitting on the fence. It is really not easy to decide.... RM is such a \" hard earned & prized possession \" and \" that school \" is so \" promising and irresistable\". 😄

The question is can your son accept RM ? 😄

I think ZD should be quite safe for within 1 km this year. 😄

In fact, most of the full-fledged primary schools eg. RM, GESPS, RVPS & ZD should have AEs in their schools. Don't worry.

As for my son, sometimes when he speaks it doesnt make sense... He is also super active but tested negative for HyperActive. I guess some kids are just slow but for us its a bit different as most of his teachers has pointed out the same thing thus we decided to go for the test.

Hi KC, I found this from MOE website. It did mention the Vision of the \" Secret school \".

Actually, having read what you described about your son so far, I won't suggest you go for RMPS.

                    Just my personal opinion.

Ehm.. Why ? Is it because RMPS is less holistic and more academic compared to ZDPS ? :scratchhead:

Or Is it because RM's AEs are not so good ??
