I think ZD should be quite safe for within 1 km this year.Hi all, how I discovered my son is a bit dyslexic, it all started when he was born prematurely. Due to that, he had frequent visits to KKH and he has speech therapy sessions to start with as he only begin to talk about 3 plus. And when he started Kindergarten, we found that he struggles with very simple words. So we brought him to enrichment class and it was when that class teacher mentioned to us that he's progressing slower than they thought and found that he struggles with words. So that was when we took him to Dyslexic Association of Singapore for an assessment and he was diagnosed with mild Dyslexia. He doesn't like to read and when it comes to spelling, he can only managed 3 letter words. And even you've practiced with him for 2 of the 3 letter words spelling, he can forget within a minute.
He is currently attending classes in the DAS and his teacher asked me to check for a school with AED to help him in Primary School so I'm happy that ZD has.But am within 1km thus crossing my fingers can get in
In fact, most of the full-fledged primary schools eg. RM, GESPS, RVPS & ZD should have AEs in their schools. Don't worry. -

As for my son, sometimes when he speaks it doesnt make sense... He is also super active but tested negative for HyperActive. I guess some kids are just slow but for us its a bit different as most of his teachers has pointed out the same thing thus we decided to go for the test.
Now that you mentioned, I realise my DD has similar issues. Initially, she can't remember her spelling, she will forget whatever we teach her immediately. She can't even remember simple words like \"For\", \"then\" etc. But she is very talkative and can reason well. We keep encouraging her and rewards her for the right spelling, she is doing better these days, but still lack behind her peers. Her Kindergarten teachers advise us to help her learn to focus, so we make her do lots of puzzle. Not sure if that Dyslexia too?zp1503:

Hi KC, I found this from MOE website. It did mention the Vision of the \" Secret school \".Still undecided. Rm is more accessible to me even though its further away. :imconstipated: still thinking...
There's very little info abt That Sch le. Do u know whats the sch's motto and vision? Seems nowhere to be found.

Actually, having read what you described about your son so far, I won't suggest you go for RMPS.
Just my personal opinion. -

qms:
Ehm.. Why ? Is it because RMPS is less holistic and more academic compared to ZDPS ? :scratchhead:zp1503:

Or Is it because RM's AEs are not so good ?? -

Or Is it because RM's AEs are not so good ??[/quote]I guess qms is trying to say RM's standard might be too high for my son, which i think so too. The reason it was my first choice as it is only like 5 mins walk from my place and my niece is there thus sister will be able to pick him up together. But with ZD, we will have to opt for school bus and if got extra classes, i will need to teach him to take bus on his own liao. -
Hi hi. Fully understand u. My in laws stay just few blocks away too! And thats y we dont want to shift house. Grandparents are real gems. When we dont want the kids to bug us, we just simply park them at their grannies!
I remember, someone mentioned abt in one sch, the bus operator will actually have buses station at schs to pick up those kids who end late. Call the operator to find out if the sch has such sevices.
Btw, Walking under hot sun is terrible. And so is walking in the rain. For 20mins....
I used to bring my daughter to her CC daily by walking to train station(5mins, mrt (6 stops + 3mins uncovered walking). I have to say its still manageable cos i could take my own sweet time. For Pri, theres a fixed sch time. Also recent years, with the famous train breakdowns(we experienced a few, the worst was during peak hr, train stopped for 40mins).........
Sch bus is the way to go.
Ah. I have another idea for u. Get a big flat near hw. Pyscho ur parents to move in with you
Hi,
I have called up the school bus operator. Unfortunately, she will only pick up and send kids who are within 1kn from Hong Wen. Asked her about my area, and she said its a no no... How sad!!!
So if I were to send my boy to Hong Wen, we will have to take a train, and then walk into the school. I checked google map, and the journey from Boon Keng Mrt to Hong Wen is unsheltered. Going to school is not so much of a problem becos i can send him there before heading to work. The main challenge is fetching him home from school by my dad, esp if the weather is too hot, or if its a rainy day. Then will have to worry for both the young, and the old again.
So now, either HW or Cantonment, its equally a challenge when it comes to logistics arrangement... -

Then, perhaps like what titank suggested, you may like to consider Stanford. Or GESPS?
