Actually, having read what you described about your son so far, I won't suggest you go for RMPS.

      Just my personal opinion.

Ehm.. Why ? Is it because RMPS is less holistic and more academic compared to ZDPS ? :scratchhead:

Or Is it because RM's AEs are not so good ??

I guess qms is trying to say RM's standard might be too high for my son, which i think so too. The reason it was my first choice as it is only like 5 mins walk from my place and my niece is there thus sister will be able to pick him up together. But with ZD, we will have to opt for school bus and if got extra classes, i will need to teach him to take bus on his own liao.[/quote]Oh.. I c. In that case you really have to weigh your options wisely. To me, walking to school is so much more convenient compared to taking a school bus ( even if the journey is less than 1 km ). What's more, your niece is in RM and your sis can help to pick him up.

Frankly speaking, if I were in your shoes, I wd try for RM ballot even if the chance to get in is very slim unless really the other school of choice has other more compelling reasons for me to go for it at 1st try.

        Hi,

I have called up the school bus operator. Unfortunately, she will only pick up and send kids who are within 1kn from Hong Wen. Asked her about my area, and she said its a no no... How sad!!!

So if I were to send my boy to Hong Wen, we will have to take a train, and then walk into the school. I checked google map, and the journey from Boon Keng Mrt to Hong Wen is unsheltered. Going to school is not so much of a problem becos i can send him there before heading to work. The main challenge is fetching him home from school by my dad, esp if the weather is too hot, or if its a rainy day. Then will have to worry for both the young, and the old again.

So now, either HW or Cantonment, its equally a challenge when it comes to logistics arrangement...
These operators are getting tooo picky, maybe its time we get members of parliament to arrange SBS transit to take over school bus operations. After all, the new buses are paid with our taxes.

Ya, she actually told me that distance is too far and she can make use of the time to pick up other workers. In addition, she commented if there are at least 2 or 3 students, she might still consider. But then just for 1 kid, she will not do that. It is not economical at all… So, whats more can I say…

Each school will only have ONE bus operator right?

Oh my! I really should? πŸ˜“ All i know is that the homework are so hard from what i see from my niece thus i think my son will struggle.

You find the homework difficult? Wait till you try other schools' exam papers.

Actually, the homework is not difficult. It's the way the teachers phrase the questions. So confusing and contradicting, sometimes.

Are you referring to maths papers ?

I bought some P1 maths test papers for my son to try and kind of think that they tend to use P3 english to narrate P1 maths questions. Shouldn't they use more pics and less English words for P1 level maths ? πŸ˜†

agree loh, i looked at zhangde maths exercise (those in-house paper prepared by teachers, on top of the MOE standard papers), give a chunk of paragraph, and ask the child to give reasoning (provided 3 blank lines) and lastly state the final answer.. to put it simply it was just about 5-3=2! but to expect a P1 child to write down lines of reasoning, isn't that a bit too much? 🀷

Yah! Sometimes when my niece asks me how to do, i was like :scratchhead:
