Was at Horizon’s Pri Open house on 19/7, must say I was impressed with the concert and kids’ showcase, but the amount of time they put in, is it worth? I hope the sch is not focusing too much on the aesthetics aspect & on looking good? Too much of marketing and publicity?

As a parent, I don’t think it is so important to get into a top sch, but an all rounded sch education that does not neglect moral upbringing and values that tend to take a back seat in such fast-paced society, but these are the very basics that if instilled right from young, the rest of good traits and habits will follow naturally.

I noticed a new EC going to be built next to Horizon Pri. Construction starting which definitely will take at least 2+ years to complete. Will it be too disturbing and noisy with construction going on? How will the kids concentrate in class?

Any parents with the same concern on the noise from construction? 🤷

              Hi mummy
classrooms are away from the construction. The building besides construction is school hall library etc. Did u go to the school's open house last sat? There were students bringing parents around and intro the school compound. So far my girls did not complain anything on the noise. May be the construction have not fully started as it started early part of the yr like mar/apr. Hope this helps.

                  Hi ChipDale78,

I m enrolling my kid as well for next year in this 2C. I attended all open house for punggol green, punggol view, edgefield, horizon & greendale pri. All pri schs offer PAL program in P1 & P2. edgefield even allow P1 to start CCA if u thk your child can cope, time wise. Thus, I m quite Convinced that all schs r gd, just boils down to which is more convenient coz’ it’s a matter of commuting to and fro for 6 years!

Thanks Orangebelt mummy for your reply on Horizon. I m waiting for MOE’s update to see number of vacancies left. I m quite risk averse, would rather not subject myself to ballot. Since all schs offer the same subjects, I don’t see much of difference between schs.

I have neighbours’ kids studying at greendale, very courteous & polite children. Hardly see kids nowadays with gd manners & social politeness. & they speak very proud of their sch. Wow! That’s patriotism & loyalty even at such young age.

Edgefield has produced gd track records so far but I only find the sch compound abit small for the children to run about. That’s where new schs seems more attractive with the bigger sch compound.

me too trying to finalise my choice of sch. Hard to decide as all schs in punggol are gd, each has their strengths!

                      Hi luv mummy,

Thanks for the info, but unable to find PAL stuff on Horizon website. agree that each school has its strengths… so many factors to consider and there is still the student care services which is a must for me… sleepless…
Hope we both make the "right decision" soon…

It is not a good time to choose Horizon now due to the delveloping of Daleys EC just next to the school which will be very noisy for students to concentrate during lesson & also dusty environment within the school compound.

I would expect the construction will start 1st quarter next year & earliest TOP will be end 2017, that means students have to suffer at least until end 2017.
