Question : Which of their children is a carrier of the genertic disorder trails?
      Answer given : Jolene.
DDs answer : Jolene and Joshua. Why is Joshua not a carrier?

      Appreciate your help!
Basically Jolene and Joshua have the bad genes. The difference is that Joshua is suffering from the disease of the bad gene while Jolene isn't. That's why Jolene is called the carrier, appearing normal but has the bad gene.

But to be more precise, this kind of gene is called recessive gene. If you receive one good and then one bad gene, this recessive gene would not show up as disease. The good gene is strong enough to negate the effect of the bad gene.

The other kind of gene is called dominant gene. Just one bad gene is enough to cause disease.

Shouldn't the nucleus of sperm be label and name as it also contributes to the baby blood group?

The sperm nucleus is definitely carrying the father's blood group gene.

We can’t see the rest of the question, but I don’t think it matters because if the baby is O, then it has inherited one O gene from the mother and one from the father thus showing it comes from the egg nucleus should be enough.

For example if baby is blood group A, we need only label where the A comes from, IF baby is B , we label where the B comes from be it from mother or father. If baby is AB, label both sperm and egg. It’s all because O is recessive.
