My son is having his CA1 next week...don't seem to see him very focused and younger one not in reading. Told her to pick up a book to read rather than walking around the house and bugging me for this and that. :x :x Honestly, I don't enjoy weekends bcos I get tension headache with both at home as compared to weekdays when it's so peaceful.

I do sound like a horrid mum but I'm stressed.
don't worry friend, my friend and me also have this kind of feeling..you are not alone hehe...

        Donkey,

It's so peaceful in the morning, even though it's just 3 hours...will either be doing housework or tidying up the house. But come weekends, with these 2 fellas at home, my time is focused on them.

Son told us his both his Eng and Maths CA1 not easy. I don't want to think about it since what's done cannot be undone. Can only wait for papers to be returned to see which areas he needs more attention.

Pei Hwa known to set tough Maths paper…but for 10%, I don’t want to stretch him too much. Son told me he managed to finish all questions but no time to check. I told him it’s ok.

              Hi periwinklejoy & janet_lee88

CA1 is always very tough. my DS used up the correction tape which i changed the night b4 maths CA. So i can imagine how tough it was.
              anyway, recognise the child’s effort!

              Rgds

                Hi tweet,

CA1 is very tough, esp Maths. I don’t want to push him for 10%. As long as the child has done his/her best, I feel we should give him/her credit.

For P6, my DS’s subject weightage is different cos he only has CA1, SA1 and prelim.it is either 30%/70% or 40%/60% (CA1/SA1) and 100% for prelim.

Hi, how are the science teachers in PH? Good quality ones? Good meaning have analytical minds, set non-routine, challenging ‘thinking’ questions, can explain with good scientific knowledge and will use practical lessons to conduct experiments (not the lazy, give answers kind) and will not confuse the kids with ‘bogus’ questions and answers.

                      Hi E3,

My son didnt give me any feedback about his Science teacher. What I find ridiculous is asking parents to pay $3 for a caterpillar to watch it develop into a butterfly. It’s optional but my son still bought it, bcos he finds it thrilling to buy things from school.

The textbook they use is not sufficient. I buy another guide book ‘Everything you need to know about Science’ by Patricia Chan but this guidebook turned out to be rather difficult.

Thanks Janet for your reply. What I would like to find out is whether the science teachers are competent. It’s not easy to find competent science teachers.
