          Dear Geddes_1310,

191 is the total number of applicants under Phase 2C only.

          We'd 18 applicants under Phase 1.

          So, 191 + 18 =209 :hi5:

Therefore, West Spring now has 209 applicants altogether. Thus, now only 31 vacancies left. 😄

I finally finished reading 57 pages! Really heart warming to read that WSPS is very prompt & responsive in all enquiries & doubts/concerns raised by parents. Well done!

Parents are also very supportive & nice!

After reading all the posts, I have concerns regards to the security issues. WSPS is a new school. Considered big. Population in school is still building up gradually.

There are construction going on, workers around, plus WSPS location is quite "secluded". Hence the safety of the children in the school must be taken with care promptly.

Hopefully the security guards will be more vigilant & observant at all times & be firm to prevent outsiders entering the school premises UNLESS there is really a need to.

              Dear Dearzen,

              :thankyou: for your compliments! :hi5:

We're happy to share that since last year when we started this forum thread to better engage our current and potential parents, we've been receiving many compliments from many other parents as well on our level of service provided. :boogie: :imcool:

Our school has safety and security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place and our guards have been briefed on this matter as well.

In order for us to operationalize our SOPs effectively, everyone, including our parents, must support and cooperate with the guards. :please: Our security guards have been at the receiving end of very harsh words being thrown at them when parents are advised by the guards to follow the school's SOPs. 🤷

Fortunately, such unreasonable parents are few and far between in our school. Rest assured that we'll continue to engage such parents and educate them on needing to observe our SOPs. :xedfingers:

We'd like to thank the vast majority of our parents for being so understanding & cooperative in observing our SOPs. :grphug:

The numerous newly-built flats across our school are on schedule to being occupied very soon. By the end of this year, there'll be many residents staying across from our school. So many of them have applied to place their children in our school next year.

In 2013 P1 registration exercise, there were 141 applicants at the end of Phase 2C. In 2014 P1 registration exercise, there're 209 applicants at end of Phase 2C.

We successfully attracted the most number of applicants in the Bukit Panjang area under Phase 2C in years 2013 and 2014 P1 registration exercise.
              🕺 :rahrah:

We anticipate that in the next year, we'll be receiving even more parents placing their children under Phase 1 as we'd then have two levels of students (P1&P2).

All our current P1 parents who children attending P1 next year had chosen to place their subsequent child at West Spring next year. Hence, we'd 18 applicants in Phase 1 P1 registration exercise this year. As such, we anticipate the number of Phase 1 applicants to increase in next year's P1 registration exercise as current parents get priority in placing their subsequent children in our school-their 'Second Home'. :grphug:

Please do contact Mdm Noor if you've any other queries at 63144192, Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 4.00pm. 😄

The guards are trying their very best. They are polite and friendly to parents and children. Unfortunately there are a few parents who ignore their SOP and walk past the guards and into the school. Some of these parents use the common facilities such as toilets and others walk into the school to say goodbye to their kids.

Other parents ignore the parking procedure and drop their kids off at the zebra crossing or at the main entrance to the school. Once the HDB estate opens, traffic conditions will get worse.

Again the security are doing their very best.

Is it possible that a teacher or Administration staff could stand at the side gate in the morning to assure that parents/ visitors do not walk into the school without a visitor pass. This might only be needed as a temporary mesaure until parents understand the rules.

West Spring is an incredible school that welcomes everyone with a warm smile and open arms. But in the case of security, the school needs to be firm and not allow anyone into the school unless they have an appointment or meeting to attend. Perhaps if a parent wishes to visit the main office, a member of staff could escort them to the office.

I would like to commend the assistant from the operations team who stands at the zebra crossing each morning. This Uncle is trying very hard to assist drivers and pedestrians. Unfortunately there are a small number of drivers who verbally abuse this Uncle and ignore his polite instructions. It’s very sad to see and hear these irresponsible drivers and sets a bad example infront of the kids.

We trust you West Spring to enhance the security for the school.

Yes, my boy will be joining his sister in 2016! Phase 1. Ooo... :rahrah:

The guards are very friendly as from what I see when I went to register my gal.

Hopefully for that few parents, please do play their part in observing the school rules & regulations. By doing so, we also teaching our children \"respect\".

We all want the best for our children in all aspects.

                  :lovesite:

May I suggest the school to consider opening and using the second gate (the one closer to the KJE) as the drop off point and entrance for kids commuting with cars?

I think this may ease the traffic at the current entrance which will only get worst come next year when more students are enrolling to the school. More importantly it will better ensure the safety of the students and parents walking to school. Currently, I feel there are too much happening at the gate especially, like some of the fellow parents pointed out, due to the traffic condition, some of the parents decided to drop off their children on the pedestrian crossing and at the school gate out of convenient.

                      Dear West Spring!

Happy that there is no balloting!! Yeah!! Looking forward to my gal’s six years of education with WS! The journey of choosing the pri schools hasn’t been easy for us (esp since our choice was always CHIJ until WSPS came about in 2014). We were glad that we made it to the school’s open house earlier in June which actually gave us the final affirmation that our choice was right to choose WS. Really love the way that you guys do to engage with parents. Even after attending the orientation, I still constantly received updates through emails or via the forum. Good job!

Hope you guys can keep up the good job and I am sure that my girl will enjoy her education here in WS!

                      Cheers!!

                        Dear Tenko,

:thankyou: for your vote of confidence in us and your commendation! It’s great that parents like you have also been playing an active role in explaining school matters to our current parents/newly registered parents/potential parents. :udaman:
