really plants can move? oops...my boy told me they cannot move and I trusted that he learnt it in school. i should have investigated further... hopefully that question will not come out today. i wonder if plants like mimosa and venus flytrap can be considered as moving since they respond to changes immediately.

Mine told me plants can move...I thot she learnt in school. :?

        dyh,

Yes, I had a hard time ‘accepting’ that initially. But plants ‘move’ in response to sunlight and not moving around actively like animals.

        E3,
My son’s Science teacher Mdm Valerine Chen gets the students to write notes in an exercise book. Son enjoys reading the notes and is able to label the diagrams for eg the 3 or 4 stages of animal life cycles. Fortunately, he has a keen interest in Science too. This subject involves quite a bit of memory work.

        IJJ,
Mimosa doesn’t move, but it responds to stimuli (characteristic of living things).

IJJ, Pei Hwa results are usually above national average cos many diligent parents contributed to that too. 😉

Oh so very true! Look at the # of pages we, ph's parents have generated here.

Well, frankly, I have not touched on any academic Science topics with my child yet this year, i.e. by sitting down with her one-to-one. She took initiatives to share what she found out from lesson, net or text/guide books. In tat, I take it as her tr played a part to enhance her interest, hence, I can let her go free gear. Of course, I hv yet to see the result of this subject in concrete numbers.

my son did not do well in the mock test. that was a good warning sign for me, so hopefully he is prepared well for today.

              Mummies,

Pei Hwa pages are the highest among all the other schools...reason is because there are many ladies here who are so willing to share what they know. :celebrate:

                  Mummies,

I can only hope and 🙏 that his CA1 grades are ok, bcos we have been revising since the beginning of Feb. Until 10pm last night, hubby was still going through his notes on diversity and life cycles.

                    Interesting!
Thanks for sharing these websites and the Plants can move info.

My P3 boy told me the sch teacher taught Plants cannot move. In EPH's lower blocks and the other two guides I am using, these three books claim Plants can move, though not freely or from place to place. This morning before sending him off, I again told him to accept the fact although he does not agree. Last night, we were revising chapter 6 of EPH's diversity and again this qn came up and he still chose to stand by his grounds. You know how he ans me when I said if he is presented with such qn, he will get it wrong? His reply: it is the qn's model ans that are wrong! :stupid:

This boy is so different from his elder boy who has the wisdom to accept the fact that he cannot change.

Wont be surprised that many parents are doing their job in ensuring the results are good.

Take my elder boy's case. His P6 Sci teacher is Mr Woon. Though another teacher knows Mr Woon is not getting through the pupils, the results of the class did not support this fact. Simply becos many pupils are taught Sci by either tutors or parents.

That's why I sent my thankyou emails to only the EL, MA and CL teachers.
