      hi,

is ymca good for 2 adults and 2 kids?
Yes, we were given a \"suite\" with one double bed and one double sofa bed. It was comfortable for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Hi, has anyone used Otel.com before? Are they reliable? Planning my trip to Japan and they are the only ones still with rooms in the hotel I am keen on. Found them on TripAdvisor but not sure of their reliability. Any feedback, please let me know.

Many of these sites quote price based on per room, but I heard in Japan they charge based on per pax. So how do you deal with it when there are 2 adults + 2 kids in the room? Appreciate your views. Thanks.

Going to ask this also. Had headache over this for past 2 days.
Also going to OSK end Nov, 2 adult & 2 kids, facing difficulty to book 1 room for 2A+2C, will encounter no available or ask to get 2 room which is 😒
Most hotel charged based on per pax though my younger kid will be sleeping w me, ie I need 3 beds.

Hi TravelMummy, which part of Japan u going ? When ? How many days.

Hi,we are also 2A 2C so I usually book one of the international chains directly rather than thru hotel sites (which I use for research) and secure rooms without breakfast so I don't have the added complication of having to account for kids in the room rate. We have managed to find triple rooms or room with sofa beds so its been ok. Otherwise I go for Jap style rooms which allows more pax cos you can arrange the futons. I am off to Hokkaido for 2 weeks.

Hokkaido for 2 weeks ! Wow! The place I hope to go next.

Can share your planning details after your trip  .

We're going for 6days, plan to cover Osaka and Kyoto only.

Agoda's great! And they have a lowest-price policy..

                  For Japan, you can try

                  Jalan.net
they have english translated. they do not need credit card information and pre-payment !! If you are brave enough use their japanese language.. and figure out using kanji etc ... you need to be very careful about some ryokan, where there is no toilet !! It is one of the biggest japan hotel website.

You can book from Rakuten Travel too. but it a little more limited choice.

I normal compare price between Jalan, Rakuten, Booking and Hotel.com or the hotel website itself.

Some have mentioned about trouble getting room if you have too many kids !! πŸ˜‚ What I normal do is under-declare my kids age (normal under 2 years old, of cos you dont under declare a 10 years old as 2 year old lah ... haha... sometimes I still do it for my 4 yrs old) and indicate that they do not need bed and food (for ryokan). They normally do not check the age of kids. Need to more honest for Ryokan. In any big hotel, even you under declare the no of pax, is ok. Cos big hotel is easier to get extra pax into room..

I prefer to book directly with the hotels.

However, there was a case which I booked through Rakuten and the price was slightly cheaper as compared to offer by the hotel.
I avoid websites wanting me to pay (deposit) first.

                      Hi aloyboy,

I got problem when trying to book for hotel room in Tokyo.
For example, if I indicate 2 adults it's so much easier to get a room. However, when I indicate 2 adults + 1 kid, most hotel will show there are no rooms to accommodate 3 person ??

We did thought of not indicating our child upon booking but afraid that we will face problem upon checking in :slapshead: :nailbite:
For yr info, our child is 8 years old, definitely no way to hide him since he is so big size already πŸ˜‰

Is it a biz hotel ? Or big hotel ? 1 kid only is easy lah.

If it is a big hotel, I will ask hubby and kid wait at lobby try not walk in like a family. I will just check in myself with lugguage. Go up the room myself first, and rest of time going in and out hotel will be no longer be an isssue as they will no longer remember you haha. Those hotel with big lobby are easiest.

If it is a small biz hotel, then is more obvious most I will ask hubby and kid wait outside the hotel I check in first.
