Does anyone know the timing of the school bus for PI from Sembawang? How long does the bus take to reach the school? What time does your kid reach home after school? Are there CCA on weekdays and how does your kid go home after the CCA? I am considering whether to enrol my son to SJI junior (my hubby is the old boy) or other schools in sembawang/yishun. My main concern is the long bus ride that my son has to take and i am afraid it might be too tiring for him.
No personal experience, but a friend told me that it takes about 45mins for his son to travel. Again, best to get the bus operator's number from the school and call them. There are no CCAs till P3. At P1 and P2, its optional enrichment classes. P1 and P2 are afternoon sessions. So if you are considering signing up for any of the enrichment classes, best to check the timing first. Considering the distance, it might be better to just stay in school after the morning enrichment class/activity. -
any idea when the school will convert to single session? And how does the drop off/ pick up work? Thanks

No plans as yet. Probably reasonable to expect them to be at the tail end of schools converting to single session. They now run with P1 and P2 in the afternoon and the rest in the morning.
Drop off I don’t have personal knowledge, but I suppose its like many schools where you drive up to the school gate and do a drop-and-go. As for pick up, there is very limited roadside parking just before dismissal. Parents who get to park would hang around the gate to pick up their boys. When the buses leave the compound, they then open up for cars to drive in for pick ups. -
I don't know how you all view SJIJ. but personally i feel its a school that is nice on the outside (name), but crap on the inside. . for those who have sons entering P1 next year, i advice you to choose any school but SJIJ. heed my advice for the sake of your sons

What CCA is SJJ famous at?
perhaps only robotics. the others are non-existent -

Herbie, SJIJ's top PSLE score for 2009 was 266. For 2008, the highest was 275.
266 is extremely low. i believe a neighbourhood school can do a lot better. any views from parents? -

The school is always at the tail end for everything. they only do things to make things LOOK right, but actually the school is made up of selfish leaders. No plans as yet. Hi jaded, I'm intending to enrol my son to SJJ next year. Notice your strong comments, care to explain more? -
let's just say its experiences i had with the school and ive witnessed incidences myself. . can't elaborate as i don't want to create a stir if any of the staff were to view this.

Hi jaded,
No offence, but I think it’s a bit unfair to the school for you to drop such comment WITHOUT elaborate much. It seems to be a competitor school trying to ‘tarnish’ the reputation of the school (if you know what I mean).
