      Hello guys,

I am currently a Year 4 student in another IP school but I wish to move to NJC next year. The main reason for my move is that I want to do the A levels instead of the IB programme my school does. So I wish to know if its possible to transfer to NJC next year? I have pretty decent scores (Top 10% in level last year Aprox top 30), pretty good CCA records and I am have been put in the GEP class in my cohort (originally not a GEP student). So if they do have transfer do I have a chance of getting in? Thanks in advance!

To switch from a IP school to another school, you'll probably have to DSA because you have no O level results to enter Year 5 via JAE. But I believe the Year 5 DSA season is almost over already, or at least some of the deadlines are over. You should check with the school soonest possible.

DSA JC selection is already over. Are you DSA in your current school? If so, then, there’s zero chance of transferring (MOE ruling).

If not, you probably have to wait till the release of the O level results next year for the general cohort, and then make an appeal application. But no guarantee of a place, as always. No harm trying though! Good luck!

My gal just got a CO from NJC. As I read through the posts and the school website, the school seem to focus lot on Art and Music programs. My gal is not into aesthetics and sports. She is from a uniform group and prefer indoor activity.I am wondering if she can fit well in such environment.

              :congrats:

I think the sch offers a good spread of programmes, be it aesthetics, sports, sciences/Maths.

There is a CAFE programme which the student is free to choose a few sports n aesthetics CCA to try out.

              She might find new interests.

My boy now in SH1 has been doing shooting air pistol, a CCA not available in the primary school.

Suppose a child had dsa into NJC, successfully.

                (not by PSLE T score)

Dsa means must honor the commitment, all the way 6 years to "A" level.

But in Sec 3 and 4, child somehow can’t cope with NJC "IP" curriculum.
Are there any preparatory clases for "O" level inside NJC to help them ?
if No, are they allowed to leave NJC, go to other Secondary schools that offer "O" level, inspite of having entered by dsa domain ?

Any parents with similar experience before, or NJC school teaching staff, kindly advise ?

                The essential question is -
What if after gain admission into NJC, this child really can’t cope with IP curriculum in Year 3 / 4, and her entry into the school was by dsa in the past, then what is the
Next Best alternate solution for this child ?

Gaining admission is only the first step, the beginning.
Can cope or not, with NJC rigorous IP curriculum, is the next crucial step.

                Thank you.

Someone has asked this question before during the open house last year.

They don't have O'level classes in NJC. So if WORST come to WORST, the students will need to transfer to other secondary to take o'level.

The teacher said they will try their best to help the students to COPE with IP. They would not wait until upper secondary than tell the student that they can't make it and want them to transfer out. So mostly they will try to \"identify\" during lower secondary.

The teacher also said that the rate of the students transferring out is VERY VERY low. Mostly are those student who are unwilling to improve even the school offered to help.

From my girl, those who are weak in certain subject, they have to go for compulsory \"conso\" aka remedial class on that subject. she said from her observance in her class, those who go for the \"conso\" aka remedial class, majority of them improved.

True. My child is also hyperactive. I hope she dosent irritate her classmates

My 2nd boy is diagnosed to be mildly hyperactive. He takes 2 capsules of fish oil in the morning before leaving for school.

All his teachers reported a better behaved child after we started him on fish oil.

                      Hi Jennifer,
How you found out your 2nd boy problem. Mine 2nd boy seems a hyperactive boy. He can't stay at a place for long, his hand has to hold/play something like stationery during lesson.
                      Please advise. Thanks
