Hi, I attended the symposium for S2 parents last Saturday for the special programs. I have a few questions regarding SMTP if you could help.


1. Without choosing any optional subjects (biology, LEP etc.), are there any afternoon lessons and how many days/hours if there are?

2. Will the research project replace the IS project or do they have to do both?

3. For SMTP, how much tougher or how much more time does a student have to spend compared to normal IP? I know this is very subjective as it depends on each individual.

4. My ds is not very keen to opt for SMTP (a big NO for the other three) although he believes he will meet the criteria. I will let him make the final decision. Do you have any advice?

Hi anyone knows what does SSMT stands for? I saw from the exam Timetable, it stated higher Sc Paper (for SSMT students only).

Wikipedia says Special Science & Math Talent Programme . I don’t remember being briefed on it (my son is in Sec 1 this year).


My son’s class is doing the Higher Sci paper, but they didn’t know until they received the EMB with the EOY exam timetable.

Heard from my son, every consortium has one class under SSMT. So far I only know that they were taught advanced topic in Science. Any advanced topic in math?
